What's next for Lara?

The Smith/Molina fight has been cancelled right? If so, I think Lara should fight Smith and get a real belt to get more recognition and have something to attract the big names. GBP won't let Canelo fight him.


I see Cotto getting beat up pretty bad in this fight.

Ishe Smith got injured and the fight was postponed, but it was by no means called off, that would be so unfair to Molina! I wouldn't be opposed to seeing a rematch with Angulo since the first fight was so close, but Lara-Trout makes the most sense in terms of determining a #1 contender for the belt Mayweather + Canelo are fighting over. Might not be the best fight to watch though, hopefully they stick that on an undercard. I don't have much interest in Rosado at this point, he needs to beat some better fighters.

Its easy to demand a fight when you bring nothing to the table. Its business and Canelo and Lara are headed in different directions. Canelos headed for big PPV fights and Lara isnt. Canelo didnt invent the game hes just playing it. Lara will get his shot at whatever title Canelo decides to vacate. The its on Lara to build up his name. Its not Canelos job to make Lara a star.

Lara has been his mandatory for how long now? was Austin troud a ppv star? how about Josesito Lopez (a guy who was fighting at 140 two fights before that), Cintron, Gomez and Hatton. It's obvious to see that saying Lara is not a ppv star that's why Canelo isn't facing him is a DUCK! A blatant duck!
If Canelo vacates after he beats Mayweather that's an even bigger duck!

Alot of fighters out there are creditable. But if you think Canelo is going to just throw Lara a bone your crasy.

Canelo's mandatory he's been dodging for quite some time. Golden Boy hates he beat Angulo because they can't keep him shelved and quite while Canelo gets the big opportunity to fight Floyd.

Trout is definitely the most logical option. Definitely could be a decent fight since Trout hasn't been in a bad fight since drastically stepping up his competition against Cotto & Canelo. Lara also has the confidence of hurting/stopping a tough guy like Anglo so I think he will be more aggressive and have better fights.

If he beats Trout he's definitely logically next for Canelo/Floyd as the next best contender at 154. Cotto/Lara would be badass though.

Yeah I know that's how the sport is but its a shame. I just think Lara deserves a shot.

Lara definitely deserves the fight though. I understand people saying Lara doesn't bring much to the table but he's been working hard for this fight. He's fought everyone they threw in front of him. Plus, who at 154 has a big fan base anyway besides Cotto. Lara/Canelo needs to happen and I'm surprised some people don't see it. Cotto is 0-2 in his last two fights. Lara should be the next opponent.

Oscar fought Ike Quartey on PPV. Manny fought Clottey on PPV. Canelo can fight Lara on Showtime. If he beats Floyd, it can be a PPV fight.

I don't think Lara Cotto would be competitive at all. It's a good fight for Lara. Not only would he beat Cotto easily he would also get his name out there so random fans would start to recognize him. Lara isn't a big name and way too dangerous so Floyd will not fight Lara unless he starts to make some noise.

Personally I think Lara would beat both Floyd and Alvarez and Trout

I thought he was special until he fought that boring ass fight against Vanes.
That was his time to shine and he did nothing.

He will get his shot. It might not be next against Canelo but somebody of note is going to have to fight him. Its just the way it is. Some people have to grind their way through life and some people are born into the Kennedys.
