Floyd is definitely the face of boxing and has been caring the sport on his back for the last 6 years. (with the help of Manny of course) He should be respected and get all the credit for being the champion he is. I just wish that when he has his opponents overly matched, that he would go for the KO.

I think ellerbee has a point but he needs to be more honest. Floyd doesn't get enough credit but thats beause he put earning money for himself ahead of everything else. I don't think he's wrong for that either. As a boxer you are an independent contractor.

That said, floyd could've used the leverage and popularity gained from 24/7 to help elevate boxing by fighting more often, giving younger fighters spots on his ppv, and generally being an ambassador for he sport. He could've spoken differently about his opposition such that they were elevated. He could've compromised his position to make the manny fight. He could've made a lot less and played the good guy.

Floyd's real value IMO is his changing the pay structure for fighters. Moving forward fighters will benefit more than they ever have. You will see the bigger names with business manager's like Al Haymon who will get fighters far bigger paydays which is a good thing IMO. People get pissed that Berto and Broner make over $1 mil for fights-they should be upset that Marvin and SRL made $5mil each for a fight that generated far more than that.

Manny Pacquiao carried boxing since 2008 with the win against De La Hoya.. As much as people hate to admit it... And it's only because Pacquiao had a nice and good attitude about life...

Manny Pacquiao since 2008 till he lost to Marquez on their 4th meeting was the face of boxing, and this is true.. because of Manny Pacquiao there has been a whole mess of new fans of boxing from celebrities to normal people that never liked boxing until Manny Pacquiao came along.

And Like I said it's only because Mayweather chose his role as the wannabe thug, bad ass, showing off that "I HAVE MONEY, YOU DON'T"....

His famous quote used to be "DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ME AND ALL OF YOU IS, MY $h!t IS PAID FOR, WHAT ABOUT YOURS" etc.. you don't get fans by showing off or talking $h!t.. you get more fans by just being a humble nice guy...

Even after Pacquiao lost to Bradley he was still the face of boxing so from 2008-2012 Pacquiao was Boxing... Another thing that didn't help Mayweather is fighting once every 1 1/2 years.. sometimes he wouldn't fight for almost 2 years...

How can you keep a fan base when you fight once every 18 months... Someone tell me I'm wrong... And keep in mind I am a fan of boxing... not just of Pacquiao, but of Mayweather also.

If this post was correct floyd wouldn't outsell him on ppv and gets higher ratings when his fights are replayed?

I've been a Floyd fan since day one but people still don't understand that boxing is a business to him. He's not going out to find the toughest fight, he's going to find the most lucrative fight. He's about the money and he's admitted that before. The more you hate the guy, the more he gets paid, plain and simple.

I don't think people give Floyd enough credit for the Mosley fight. Mosley was knocking everyone out until Floyd. Shane completely dismantled Margarito when he had just TKO'd Cotto and looked like a BEAST. Shane beat him easily. He rocked Floyd twice in the same round before getting out boxed. Once Floyd beat him, everyone said Shane was past his prime. That's just not fair. It was Manny who actually ducked a prime Mosley. It came directly out of Freddie Roaches mouth. Who was more dangerous at 147 than Shane at that point??? Manny??? Who was Manny brutally knocking out? Shane was a MONSTER up to that point.
