I don't think this fight will take anything out of him, he'll just need to take a break and regroup. Garcia took a page from Alexander's playbook and clinched whenever he felt the momentum was shifting. You gotta clinch and/or move against Matts, and even then, it's not a given that you're gonna get away unscathed. Garcia was also the first to not get KD. Maybe more guys will be willing to fight Matts now since he supposedly got schooled tonight and looked vulnerable. Matts is still a top 5 guy and will probably still be in line for a title shot if he decides to stay at 140.

It's the small things Danny showed in previous fights that made me pick him over Lucas. One thing I noticed in his recent fights, was when Danny strung looping shots together, he didn't just lean his head to the side every time he threw; he kept his shoulders and neck tense, pulled away to whatever direction he was hooking and moved his whole upper body together with his neck, which not only helped him get under his opponents hooks and beat them to the punch with his own hooks, but actually stabilised his chin in the exchanges. I still don't like how his hands get so low when he trades, but that neck locking technique braces him well for punches. He showed that against Matthysse.
Danny's punching technique is still a little wide for my liking, he still has a lot to work on, but his speed and timing was really put on display against Lucas. His anticipation was great with the left hook. I thought he should have used more right hands to set up his left, but as we saw Lucas's eye close up, it was clearly working. The main advantage Danny had over any of Lucas's previous opponents in beating Lucas was the fact that he is willing to put his shots out there without being worried about Matthysse beating him to the punch. Danny wasn't fazed one bit. I knew he had head movement, but he never really used it apart from in Garcia-Morales II (until now). He worked on that in training camp and it worked well against Matthysse.
