Seriously, I really hope they do this again.

That was the first time I have found Danny's work interesting and Lucas hasn't been that defensive for a while, so they bring out the best in each other.

It was a good fight warming up to be a great one before the eye injury. I am not saying the result would have been different, but the fight lost momentum for 3 - 4 rounds which was a shame.

All things considered, they were only separated by 19 (landed) punches according to compubox, which regardless of who you supported can only be a good thing for boxing fans.

Boxing needs more fight's like this.

If the rematch happens, I think it'll be easier for Danny after now gaining experience with Matthysse.
Lucas lost the fight in the 3 rounds after Danny closed his eye. He got hit by everything and offered little in return.

I'm midway thru round 7 I have 13 questionable and about 5 no doubts are hip shots. I'll have the video up tonight.
Add how many clinches were in the fight too. I remember a youtube vid where somebody counted all of the clinches in Devon/Maidana, that was unreal.

This is crazy, on first rewatch I scored it a draw but Matthysse just barely edged his rounds while Garcia won his rounds in one-sided fashion. And Garcia controlled the pace of the fight and where the exchanges took place, he showed better ring generalship, as soon as his back touched the ropes he either clinched or threw a quick shot and moved, he made "the machine" look very ineffective so he was the better man that night. His low blows pissed me off though.

How did you guys score the first 6 rounds?

It was a competitive fight no mather what Garcias fans say. Round six i gave it to Lucas, but it was even. I have just donwload it, ill rewatched tonight. The clinching and the low blow thing was disgusting. Here in Argentina they let boxers hug only when they are hurt. Otherwise points are deducted. But it seems that in northamerica is part of the sweetscience.
I wonder if Matthysse's eyes are fragile because he had also his eyes shut against Harris. Garcia has a monster left and a great chin.

I figure the first 6 rounds has to be 3-3. Maybe 4-2 Lucas IMO. Then Lucas lost 3 straight for sure. From there I wasn't really scoring, so I can't say for sure how 10, 11, and 12 should be scored except 11 was 10-8 Garcia because of the KD.

It was a close but clear fight, with the only really one-sided rounds coming after Danny closed that eye. No domination or schooling.

I hate how they "seperate" guys when they are holding, Mattyse had no answer for it. If he had no answer then he shouldn't have kept falling into the same trap over and over, Garca did nothing wrong. There are ways to fight out of a clinch and avoid them altogether it's a part of boxing, period, doesn't matter what country you are in.

Don't know why people think it was a domination. The fight was close but clear Garcia win.
