Matthysse groupies have been the most ignorant, irrational, obnoxious fans in the sport over the past half year or so, get hyped up over a puncher staggering how people on here overlooked Danny.

This was an easy ass call since day one. I dont know what the **** all the hype on matthyse was about.

I really am happy for Danny.

I became a fan of his in the Khan build up. His work ethic, will to win and heart just sat well with me.

People tried to act like Danny hasn't got heart. When I said Danny wouldn't go down without a fight people responded to me like Danny hasn't proven he's a warrior.

Like I said before the fight, the kid is tough as nails, great chin, great heart.

Nothing better than when almost every writer and expert picks a fighter to lose by KO and they upset the odds.

I picked Danny to lose but I wanted him to win and I'm elated he proved everyone wrong again.

Matthysse a hell of a fighter and a good man, but completely overrated.

Yep, basically. I never saw what people were seeing in him. Up until the Peterson fight, I was always saying that this dude is getting way too much hype. People were calling him a future HOFer and getting all weird as happens on NSB. The Peterson win was big and that was the first sign for me that he was a top 140 pounder and actually belonged among the best, but then when I saw him as a prohibitive favourite against Garcia, man, I was shocked. He's clearly not shown that much, apart from one win, to be getting rated as he has. Reminds me a lot of Golovkins hype.

Matthyse has shown a lot more flaws over his time than Garcia had coming into this. Neither deserved to be much of a favourite, but it seemed that Garcia was the more talented for me.

Anyway, there seems to be a lot more guys suddenly coming out say 'yeah, I knew it was going to happen' than was the case beforehand. People that spoke out about him as a favourite and the hype he was getting stuck out like a sore thumb, so there wasn't this many at all.

Yeah, sure Ray. It's a fight. No ****. But it's a boxing match with rules against low blows and excessive clinching. They are meant to be penalised for a reason and if one guy spends a fight getting away with them, and clearly hurting the other guy by using them, it needs to be penalised.

When one fighter hits the other with at least one, sometimes more, clear low blows every round for a whole fight, is warned well over three times, and then shoots a very obvious and deliberate low blow at the end of the fight, it needs much more attention. They are against the rules of the sport for a reason. They are not put in just to show up who is a girl or not.

It's not a street fight Ray. It's a sport with rules. Anything does not go.

Anyway, the clinching wasn't so bad. Weeks should have warned against it, but I don't think it changed much. The low blows were clearly, very clearly, having an effect on Matthyse and there were some brutal ones that were thrown at very convenient times in the fight. Garcia was also warned three times by round 4, and then proceeded to throw one or two clear ones every single round for the rest of the fight without penalty until the blatantly intentional one at the end. The low blows were bull**** and something should have been done about it by round 4 or 5 after the third and fourth warnings.

I've been reading shít from the Matthysse fans saying "Matthysse COULD HAVE won if he turned the fight into a brawl and didn't respect Danny too much" and "Garcia's LUCKY Matthysse's eye swole up, cause he would have gotten KTFO if Lucas's eye was good".

Coulda shoulda woulda.. At the end of the day, Matthysse tried to fight his fight, but Garcia just shut him down, got the better of him in the exchanges and fuqd Lucas's right eye up with his left hook..

Good Hopkins interview on YouTube. He says he worked with Danny for this fight and advised him to use movement to throw Matthysse off balance. He also clinched to negate Matthysses attack which I also anticipate was Hopkins talking to him.

Garcia gets better with every fight.

I picked Garcia to win this fight by boxing and countering and I'm very happy that I was right. The Matthysse invincibility talk became very annoying and unrealistic to the point where it was hero worshiping and nothing else.

See this is the problem in boxing, people get way too emotional. Just accept that Danny proved the doubters wrong and showed the world he has more up his sleeve than we've seen before, the kid is special man, it's like with Canelo, I'm a big Canelo fan, my heart ruled my head but deep down I knew Floyd would get the UD, I'm proud of Canelo though, he's young but too green and you can't out box the grandmaster. I'm also really proud of Lucas he has a titanium chin and heart like no other.

Really? You need to check out more guys mate. There are dozens of fighters every generation that show a great beard and heart. Matthyse doesn't stand out particularly in that regard at all.
