I don't think he has the speed to land like Mosley did.

Mosley, even at that point, still had good hand speed and power. Matthysse has good power, but I don't think he has the speed or skill to do anything against Mayweather.

I think he could beat anyone else at 140-147, but Mayweather is just all wrong for him.

I just don't think Mosley at that stage of hi career where he was clearly gunshy is better than Matthysse.

Matthysse can always corral Mayweather and like someone said, the chance of him landing will always be there. We saw Matthysse can fight dirty on the inside too if Mayweather decided to clinch or forearm.

Mosley wasn't gun-shy heading into the Mayweather fight though, he became gun-shy during the fight when everytime he threw a punch he was getting cracked for it.

I just don't see Lucas doing anything with Mayweather. I think you would see a very good fighter looking completely confused by the 6th round. At this stage he has seen it all, and come forward punchers are perfect for him to put on a clinic.

That is the only fight I wouldn't give Lucas any chance of winning, I think he'd be lucky to win more than 2 rounds.

I didn’t think Matthysse has a chance against Mayweather, at least for the moment. But after the Peterson fight he was interviewed by an Argentine radio and, when asked about it, he said it wouldn’t be a problem to get the extra weight he would need. He showed a cautious confidence in his possibilities against Floyd and even talked a bit about what would be his strategy in that fight. He said he would try to hit Floyd non-stop, on arms and shoulders during the first rounds, to weaken him before the final assault. I think he has the conditioning needed for this plan.

So wanna explain to me Mosley's gunshyness going into the Mora fight? Or was that a result of Mayweather "taking his soul"?

i dont think matthysse is technically good enough, nor quick enough to hurt floyd to be honest.

To me PART of Mayweather's success comes from him breaking his opponents down MENTALLY and to me Lucas doesn't seem like that type of guy.

I don't believe he recovered from it, no.

He should have retired after the Mayweather fight. He became reluctant to throw mid-fight against Mayweather and he's been reluctant to throw ever since.

I'm not gonna argue that cause it could be a valid point. I don't wanna sound cliche but it doesn't only take speed to land on Mayweather.

Matthysse has very good stamina and he works the body. Mayweather with healthy hands has respectable power but I don't think he would be bother Matthysse too much.

Like the guy above posted, hitting the arms and shoulders is a good approach.
