My 7th fight - Rematch from last time

    Im in blue corner

Here is my 7th fight. I fought this guy last fight and lost a split decision although I thought I won the first. This guy is from my old gym so they got some bad blood for me. They gloated about the first one on twitter so i challenged to a rematch they said sure, then they were supposed to do it on my gyms card they blew me off. Then finally it happened on their card. So i went back to my old gym to fight him.

The camera guy kinda ******, he missed a bunch of good combos in the second where I snapped the guys head back. Then in the third it was similar to the second I landed some good 3 punch combos... only problem is my camera died after about 45 seconds in the third. Then with 20 seconds left he gave me a HUGE overhand left which buckled my knees, dropped my hands then he followed up with two more, the ref gave me a standing 8 but I held on for victory.

By the way the point deduction had no impact on the scorecards, I checked.

    Tell me what you think.

Nice fight bro, glad you won.

You could jab more, seemed some landed and maybe some body shots, but I guess it's the amateurs.

Scrappy fight but you beat him. Fast hands but sort of easy for the counter because your balance looks like you're reaching.

Keep on working hard and talk to your trainers!

      thanks man!

Weird thing is I always throw body shots sparring and lots in my other fights. But my two fights with this guy I never throw them... I think he is just an awkward style for me. Hes southpaw, a counter puncher, good footwork and had good hand speed

If I was you I would stop fighting for a few months and just train your ass of and improve your technique because from what I've seen it needs major improvement hope this helps

          Good job,,,

But i would work on technique especially since you are almost at "open" level... You dont want to fight open fighters with your level of technique.....

Get some good sparring each week and work the fundamentals...

You're about where you should be after seven fights. Listen to your coach, above all.

Things I see you need to work on:

              1) Your jab often goes out, down, back -- very easy to counter because you loop it to the floor on its way back. Needs to come straight back as quickly as it gets to the target.

              2) A few times when he rushed you, you back straight up to the ropes. Obviously that's not what you want to do, so work on footwork and angling out to either side.

              3) Keep your form inside, don't give him your gloves so he can tie you up. Keep 'em high and tight when you're close so you can work.

I liked that you took advantage of opportunities and tried to work combinations. From what we could see your conditioning was good (but obviously needs to get better). You also showed good patience in spots, didn't seem to rush yourself which a lot of novices do.

Keep it up. And, again, listen to your coach.

You stepped up and did it so 'A' for the effort. But it's hard to believe that this was your seventh bout. Honestly, it looks like you must have fit the description needed so they pulled you straight off the street and gloved you up.

Straight up here, find yourself a trainer that knows the art and understands the skills before you get yourself hurt. It's called the Open Class and it's right around the corner for you............ Rockin'
