Comments Thread For: Frampton vs. Briceno Set For July 20th at Wembley Arena

Belfast’s Carl Frampton will defend his IBF Intercontinental Super-Bantamweight title against Everth Briceno on Saturday 20th July at Wembley Arena.

Unbeaten Frampton features alongside British stars Dereck Chisora and Billy Joe Saunders on a big night of boxing live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/****** Ch. 546).

His challenger, big-punching Briceno from Chinandega, Nicaragua, has plenty of experience in a 13-year career in which he has stopped 26 of his 35 wins.

Lol at Frampton calling this guy "a great fighter". I get that it's a short-notice fight but just call it what it is.

Why not step his competition up rather than down? I can see a good fight in some of these guys: Yasutaka Ishimoto, Cristian Mijares, Jeffrey Mathebula, Victor Terrazas or even Vic Darchinyan would be a great test. Come on, step up not DOWN CARL!

Are you special? He's just signed with Frank Warren and the fight is in a couple of weeks.

If this was Gary Russell Jr. he'd get shat on for fighting this level of opposition. But it's Frampton so he gets a pass?

              Cleverly is fighting Kovalev.

Meaning that if it was an American fighter taking on easy scrubs like this we'd never hear the end of it. It's like there is a double standard on the forum.

Once again, did you read my first post? He just signed with Warren and the fight is in two weeks. Did you expect him to get Nonito Donaire?

Oh and Gary Russel Jr? I actually like him but if you want to compare their resumes? Frampton's is better with far less fights under his belt

What's his excuse? The kid has the GBP machine behind him and still hasn't fought anybody.

For a stand in opponent at 2 weeks notice it could be much worse.
