  • Comments Thread For: Maloney Admits Price Has To Return To Domestic Level

David Price has suffered another huge career setback after being stopped inside five rounds by American veteran Tony Thompson in front of his home fans at the Echo Arena, Liverpool. Thompson proved his second round knockout in their previous heavyweight fight five months ago was no fluke as he produced a flurry of unanswered punches to end the contest in round five. Such an outcome looked unlikely after Price had knocked down the 41-year-old in round two, however the Maryland boxer came storming back to silence the partisan home crowd.

Gotta love when promoters/leeches jump ship when a guy loses. Especially ones you've seen sucking a guys balls when they thought he was going to go somewhere. It's a very good life lesson if you've ever seen it first hand and something every kid should probably be taught about.

I dunno after a fight like that I wouldn't be surprised if David takes some time off, if he doesn't quit. I think the damage is all psychological; its not that he lost but how he lost. He looked bad. Real bad. He got that knockdown but there was no skill behind that KD, and it seemed to affect David more then it did Tony. David needs to find a defensive trainer or an all around trainer, like how Wladmir and his glass chin started working with Emmanuel.

At 30-years old I can't see much changing for David Price. Even donestically I would put money on the likes of Chisora or Hughie Fury knocking him spark out.

I haven't seen the fight yet, but didn't Maloney blame Lennox for Price's game plan?

If so, what a little piece of **** that man is.

Hang your gloves up Mr Price, the pro game just ain't for you. After three/four rounds you ain't got a plan b or chin to take you through the trenches. Lennox, Tyson, Foreman and a healthy Muhammad Ali being in your corner next fight wouldn't even make a difference, you are finished mate, go and get a job that doesn't involved being punched....

Going "back to domestic" is the British equivalent of what American's call "fighting at the bar".

Why no reports on the Satchell & Hamilton wins?

Maloney blamed Lennox to a degree but truth is Price has been exposed. He either lacks stamina or has bad recovery issues with it, or sometimes will suffer from ineffiency with it. Plus he cannot infight at all.
