    Pretty much, the fact he was being held up by the ropes is key. It excuses the ref, but you could see him thinking.

      There is a difference between leaning on the ropes and being held up by them.

      The rules say it is a knockdown if the ropes are holding a fighter up, not if he leans on them in the corner. His legs were holding him up.

      He made a conscious decision to turn his back on his opponent. The fight should have been stopped at that point with no count.
