First the Ref doesn't stop it and when he does he gives Price a standing 8 count, eventually stopping it for good.

Ref's should not referee a fight were his compatriot is in the same ring "to many emotions" in the air!

Well he stopped him instantly after.

So I don't know about that. It was a weird one because Price's back was basically turned. So he either had to wave the fight off there and then or do what he did.

Price was leaning against the ropes so was fair IMO to call it a standing knockdown.

Then Price simply quit after the 8 count and the ref waved it off.

Could've made the case for waving the fight off straight away, but guess the ref didn't wanna take the risk of a premature stoppage.

How about the stoppage, I think that even though Thompson wasn't throwing bombs Price wasn't defending himself for 20-30 seconds before the ref gave him a STANDING 8 COUNT?
I think a stoppage was in order he was done.
Although I can see how the ref did give him every chance to recover.
