  • Comments Thread For: Cotto's HBO Return Pegged For October 5? Against Molina?

BoxingScene.com first reported on Wednesday that former three division world champion Miguel Cotto (37-4, 30KOs) is possibly going to return to HBO. Cotto's last fight, in December, was televised on Showtime against Austin Trout. The Puero Rican star was going to return to Showtime on September 28th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, but Showtime rejected Cornelius "K9" Bundrage as a potential opponent.

Cotto, who became a free agent on December 31, 2011 after spending his entire career with Top Rank, had his last two bouts co-promoted by Golden Boy Promotions. There is heavy talk that Top Rank could be co-promoting Cotto's return.

Does anyone else think Miguel should go back to his uncle regardless of what happened in the past the fact is he helped Miguel get to where he was from beginning of his career to 2009. They should burry the hatchet and help each other out.

Good choice of opponent, he'll show he's gotten something left when he wins this. WAR COTTO!

Who the hell does Cotto's matchmaking, first Trout now maybe Molina?

Molina is virtually impossible to look good against and will quite probably give Cotto another loss.

Good thing he didn't fight for K-9's title, that would have made no sense at all.

I think molina outworks cotto. I just can`t see cotto beating top JMW's. He's too small, he does not have the stopping power he had at 147 and below, he's not fast enough out slick the bigger guys, and he does not have enough stamina to go 12 hard rounds.

Came into this thread to say the exact same thing.

Although had he fought K9 for his trinket, you could almost guarantee he would be matched up with Canelo had he won.

I can't stand Molinas clinching ass. Couldn't even fight or box Kirkland like a man, just clinched, clinched, and clinched.

Scares me in this fight since Cotto has had stamina issues too. Good point made by TRT boy his power isn't the same and speed isn't there either. It wouldn't even be outworking though, Molina would just clinch until Cotto tires and win a decision.

I really hope Cotto stops him though I would be so thrilled.

I got all my points on Cotto for anyone willing to bet. Molina has been ****ed over too many times, I acknowledge all that but his abilities are overrated and people fail to realize that his game applies itself well against fighters who can't fight in close, or don't have the hand speed (Kirkland). Cotto is an all around better fighter than Molina.

I don't believe this fight will be boring. I think Molina heard and took the clinching criticism to heart after the Kirkland fight from the interviews I've read from him. Clinching is not his normal thing. He's been in a number of entertaining fights without the clinching.
