You are absolutely correct- however Kovalev isn't the plodder Pascal or Cloud are. Neither man can clinch and spoil the duration of a whole fight and not get caught once - and neither has faced a man with KOvalevs power (don't forget wards tasted the canvas before)

Also don't forget Kovlaev comes inside to try and overwhelm his opponents with non stop power shots - but I believe he is most effective when he's at Range and using his jab as a measuring stick to let right hand go. He is no crude brawler like Rios who is going to be in Wards orvHopkins pocket all night, I think he will adapt if he has to and give himself some room and the moment either man go on the defensive or possibly survival mode he will come forward and try to end it IMO

I never said that. Of course Dawson had skills- but IMO this Kovalev is better then that Dawson. I'm not sure- I think Kovalev is just as technically sound and skillful as Dawson was, he's just never had to put it on display for 12 rounds. And add his crippling power- Dawson could only dream of power like KOvalevs. Whatever Dawson hit Hop with, Kovalev hits him 10x harder. If you believe Dawson is more skillful then you could think Kovalev might not have those same opportunities - however I don't believe that.

The Dawson that beat Hop is easy work for the Krusher. This is just my opinion, don't take it personal, I know yorva huge hopkins fan. Many people will disagree with me and that's OKAY

I am a fan of Kovalev so It's not a personal thing as stated Kovalev very well could beat Hopkins, my issue was the way you were talking about Dawson. Technique, speed, athletic abilities and skill, Dawson was better than Kovalev in that regard. Kovalev however obviously has more power and a higher work rate. What we still don't know about Kovalev is stamina and his chin (although I think his chin is good). Boxing is about styles and if we're just talking about styles I think Dawson's style is a lot more difficult for Hopkins to deal with than Kovalev. But then again Hopkins is almost 50. I like how Kovalev tends to throw from all angles, but Hopkins is a master at distance and lateral movement.

            What a gem

Haha Damn. In fairness to op I remember a lot of people at the time tipping cleverly to outbox him, just as a lot of people tipped bucktooth Hopkins too as well

Kovalev obviously has a very good chance against Hopkins and should probably be the favorite, but Ward would definitely beat him IMO.

Hopefully we get to see these fights. Kovalev is HBO now, and they should push Ward to fight him in the near future.
Still think Ward beats him, but Kovalev has improved a lot from the fighter he was back during the Cleverly fight. The Hopkins fight was really eye-opening.

And thank you HBO, for pushing Ward to take this fight.

His resume is overrated, but the guy himself deserves a lot of the praise he gets because of the talents he's shown. That's what makes the Ward fight so great, it's finally a chance to see Kovalev fight an elite fighter in his prime. A chance for him to prove just how great he his (or isn't).

Even if Kovalev gets beat by Ward I don't think it means he's overrated, we all know Ward is a excellent fighter and he could easily beat Kovalev on the 19th. I think we will find out if he's as good as advertised though that night if he wins or puts up a hell of a fight .. If he would lose to some guy ranked #7 or something then yeah, he's overrated obviously

And if Kovalev beats Ward what will you say?
