Kovalev has proven his power and legitmacy.

Lacy didn't, Lacy looked terrible everytime he fought someone decent both prior and after the Calzaghe fight.

If anyone is like Lacy it's Tavoris Cloud. They are pretty much carbon copys of one another.

Kovalev is what he is and Cleverly is what he is.

That being said, Cleverly sucks something fierce and will get decimated in front of his hometown fans early. Why he took this fight I don't know, but he's an idiot if he thinks this is going to be like fighting the Robin Krasniqi's of the world.

Bhop and Ward both tire him out early and both stop him.

While he hasn't shown the most elite defense thus far, I honestly think it's just him going into everyone of his fights so far knowing he's going to spark his opponent and not even worried about getting hit back because he knows he'll ice them. When/if he fights guys like ward and even cleverly in august, I think you'll see a more fluid Kovalev and not as "sloppy." I think you'll see a better defense and movement from him as he continues to step up, but just like GGG.... His offense is so good that he could honestly have the worst defense in the world and any fight he's in would still be 50/50 due to his monstrous offense alone.

His very techinically sound and has good boxing skills on top of his destructive power.... When you have that kind of an attack, it's easy to see why a guy can get a bit careless against opponents you know you're going spark anyway.

            No, I don't think he's overrated

Kovalev beats both IMO. Hopkins at this point (with all due respect) won't go past 5. The man lost to Chad Dawson for Christ sakes, stop going around acting like he's invincible..... If Dawson can put in work, Kovalev absolutely puts him to sleep IMO.

Ward-Kovalev is the best possible fight out there At 168-175 I think and I actually think Kovalev is the man to take his 0. Bold prediction, I know... But once Ward feels his power he's on his bike ans it's only a matter of time.

No one 175 and under beats Kovalev. Sign it, seal it and lock it up , I'll bump this in a year and you will see

Kovalev proved he is one of the better LHW in the world. I think its fair to have stevenson and bhop ahead of him. I think Kovalev right now is the best of the kovalev/cloud/cleverely/chad/pascal group.

Both Hopkins and Ward do things that Kovalev has never had to contend with yet.

They are capable of clinching and spoiling for several rounds. Kovalev likes to fight in a rhythm and they would both try to break that rhythm.

Maybe Kovalev will prove me wrong, which might be hard if Hopkins doesn't fight him and Ward never moves up, but those two fight a style I think would neutralize Kovalev. Kovalev obviously has a very good chance against Hopkins and should probably be the favorite, but Ward would definitely beat him IMO.

Hopefully we get to see these fights. Kovalev is HBO now, and they should push Ward to fight him in the near future.

Lol why you acting like Dawson was some bum at the time? As far as skills and techniques go, Dawson was a far superior fighter than Kovalev. That isn't to say Kovalev wouldn't beat Hopkins, but let's not revise history and make it seem like Dawson had no skills. He was a highly skilled fighter.
