  • Comments Thread For: Carl Froch vs. George Groves is Ordered By The IBF

Promoter Eddie Hearn is now being set with the task of matching two of the bigger names in his stable, Carl Froch (31-2, 22KOs) and George Groves (19-0, 15KOs). The IBF has now installed Groves as the mandatory challenger and ordered Froch, the organization's current super middleweight champion, to fight him next.

The two fighters do not like each other and the tension grew to a new level after Groves joined the training camp of Mikkel Kessler as a sparring partner, as the Danish star prepared for the May rematch with Froch.

      How convenient.....

According to this (and IBF site), Edwin Rodriguez was the next in line.

Rodriguez is scheduled to face Grachev in two weeks at 171.5. He could lose, get injured, etc. How could he get ordered to fight someone, let alone make a deal before July 10 and he fights on July 13.

All the fighters above Groves on the rankings are occupied. Edwin, and Lucian, have fights planned and I'm sure after that draw with Ward's sparring partner Gonzales, Thomas isn't lining up for a massacre. You got to remember Froch hasn't had a mandatory obligation since he won the belt off Bute, so this had to come sooner or later.
