For a second I almost crapped myself because all I saw was : "Mayweather vs. Canelo cancelled". I didn't immediately notice "Phoenix Presser".

Just weeks before this there was another huge fire (Doce) that threatened thousands of homes in our city and put hundreds of people in shelters, but these young men were instramental in containing that fire with no homes or lives lost. They weren't so lucky just weeks later. Yarnell is a small town and it has virtually been wiped out, with over 250 homes being burned to the ground and the fire is still at zero containment. It might not seem like much to you, but this is something that happens to a large part of this state pretty much year round. This fire was started by lightning from the monsoons storms. The entire state of Arizona isn't one big desert as many seem to think.

This is a huge ARIZONA tragedy, whether it hit your city or not. To say losing 19 firefighters in your own state (which btw the majority of these men were in their 20's) isn't that big of a deal because no one you know has mentioned it, seems a little naive to say the least. I highly doubt that the weather being too hot is the real reason they didn't come to town, as you seem to think.
You missed my point entirely. I don't hear anyone in Phoenix talking about it. Just because you don't like that fact doesn't make it true. I said nothing to downplay the sadness of the tragedy in any way. I think it's terrible so *** off with your condescending bull**** acting as if I don't care. Personally, I don't think they canceled because of the tragedy. That has nothing to do with how I feel about it. It's the same way I felt about the tsunami in Japan. I was devastated but no one I knew in the US gave a shi+. Even the people I normally organize fundraisers with didn't feel like making a collection for that one.
