What's your point? Are you trying to say these guys are the same level as someone like Darren Barker was operating at when Sergio fought him?

The equivalent would be Floyd fighting Kell Brook.

Darren Barker didn't cut off the ring at all, he shelled up and forced Sergio to initiate the action; something that frustrated him initially as he is generally used to countering his opponents as they're coming in. Sergio made the necessary adjustments and stopped Barker with a right hook through Barker's guard.

I actually believe Golovkin's style suits Sergio more. The GGG hype is insane now with people just dismissing Sergio so brazenly.

He'll walk Golovkin onto some wicked counters. We'll see how Golovkin's face and chin hold up. He wont be as defensively responsible as Barker or Martin Murray were for example. A healthy Sergio is a huge step up in class for GGG.

          3) Golovkin looked fine against Rosado and was sick 2 days before the fight. Against Ouma that was a war and it lasted longer than 6 rounds, Golovkin also did not eat or drink properly 2 days before the fight as he had to sleep in the airport because of visa issues. In both these situations Golovkin wasn't even close to his best. His stamina looked fine vs Ouma, especially considering how much of a war the fight was.
          1) Sergio's footwork allows him to lower his opponent's output and open up angles for him to land his punches. He's also efficient at keeping his opponents in the right distance and using lateral movement to avoid getting trapped in an unnecessary skirmish. Even in the few occasions when the fight has been seen fighting on the ropes he has always looked solid (see: Sergio v. Chavez 4th & 11th rounds).

          2) Golovkin has never been hit by anyone with anywhere close to the power Sergio can deliver with a counter left. How will he react when he get's caught by a punch he doesn't see coming? His chin hasn't been tested yet.

          3) Against both Ouma and Rosado, GGG began showing signs of exhaustion starting in the 5th round; I actually scored the 5th round for Rosado. In the Ouma fight, by the last two or three rounds GGG looked too tired to keep his gloves up and was getting hit at will; Ouma was likewise exhausted and that's why he was stopped. GGG definitely seems to have stamina issues mostly because he's only had 1 fight go near the full ten. The vast majority of his fights have gone under 5 rounds.

Sergio has proven 12 round stamina and is known to finish strong in the championship rounds.

If Sergio isn't stopped within the first 5-7 rounds, it could turn into a very uphill battle for GGG.

Barker and Murray both did the exact same thing. Solid fundamentals, close the distance round by round, and land their punches when they closed the distance. As the fight went on, they closed the distance more with each round. Golovkin is way better than either of them at doing exactly that.

its time for sergio martinez appreciation thread because if he ever fights GGG, it will be his last time as 160lb champion. It could look like pacquiao de la hoya possibly pacquiao hatton.

I thought Martinez was overrated when most guys pretty much thought he was God. Now, he seems to have faded a bit. GGG by KO.

My thoughts exactly. People choosing Sergio because he has shown ability to box and move, but in Sergio's recent fight his opponents (well Murray actually won) have made me think Sergio is MADE for GGG to dismantle.

Martin Murray is the #1 contender to GGG WBA belt but when you look at Murray tweets all you see is Martinez, Chavez, Froch, Geale, and Barker you don't see GGG name..

Neither guy fought like a pressure fighter, what they did do is shell up and picked their shots, forcing Sergio to initiate the action. They did on occasion close the distance by taking a few slow steps just to be in range for the 1-2. When Sergio would come in with a combination, they would keep their guard up and throw the 1-2 when the opportunity presented itself (Note the low output, but high connection rate)

Golovkin is not that kind of fighter, he's not a safety first fighter like Barker and Murray who keep an educated guard and throw only when they see an opening. Golovkin tries to come in rapidly while cutting the angles and trying to throw combinations to the body and head. He also get's hit a lot more than Murray and Barker do as a result (notice how Rosado was able to catch him with some counters as he was coming in). Entirely different fighters, entirely different styles.
