Let's be real. GGG is not too big for Floyd.

Well, I guess it's all just opinion based, however Golovkins technique, footwork, patience, combination punching and defense all seem to be ahead of Lucas. I can't think of something Lucas does better than Golovkin other than become more wild and un-predictable, whereas Gennady as mastered how to set opponents up into traps.

I like Lucas anyway so it's not to discredit him, I think he's a good fighter, I just think Golovkin is just more well rounded and his amateur record is quite amazing and shows in his decision making and boxing ability.

TBF GGG has not established himself as a legit challenger for p4p Floyd, but if he keeps mowing them down 5 times a year it shouldn't be long.

Oh I see, yeah I like Golovkin's technique more than Matthysse's as well, better combos, footwork, and sets up good traps. I thought it was who would get farther overall in their career and Matthysse seems like he might actually get a shot at Floyd, something we both know Golovkin will never get.

You're right, he obviously needs to fight Andre Berto first.

Wasn't Berto moving up to 154? If it could be made, I'd be all for it, to prove GGG can make 154 and compete at a world class level. But no chance of it made

Personally, I don't think Golovkin is too big for Mayweather. It is really an intriguing matchup. However, I never really expected Floyd to fight at 154 again after the Canelo fight. It seems that he only fights at JMW when the fights are huge events for big paydays. DLH, Cotto, and Canelo will probably prove to be 3 of his top 5 fights in terms of PPV and financially. This doesn't rule out GGG though. He is well on his way to becoming a popular figure in boxing. So how does the fight happen?

GGG, since he is the same size as Canelo, can move down to JMW and campaign there. The talent pool at 154 is better than at 160 and there are more potential big fights for him there. He can fight Canelo, Cotto, Trout, Angulo, or Lara. This would inevitably lead to the public demanding a fight between Mayweather and GGG. He would also prove to everyone that he can make 154 healthily further legitimizing the fight. Let's face it though. There's a reason why GGG isn't campaigning at 154 now. He would have to sacrifice a lot to get there. Not to mention, if he fights Floyd it will most likely be at 152. You have to prove you can fight in a division. Saying it isn't good enough.

If he's not too big, Floyd will give us the reason...

Well one reason is he's not with GBP, which means he's not getting any of those 154ers. He even has a contract with HBO, so it's double impossible.

Would you rather see him fight 10 rounders vs SWW non contenders, or defend belt vs MW contenders?

Understood. But then what is the point of this thread. Mayweather is on Showtime and he's a Golden Boy fighter (he may not be signed to them but he is one of their employees). Are we all discussing a fight that's impossible anyway? At least if he was campaigning at 154, he could try to force a purse bid. Right?
