No need to ***** on Rios Alvarado, both were top notch fights that bring new fans to boxing.
They've had some good fights Judah-Garcia, Peterson-Lucas, though PPV Ponce-Mares was good on the undercard of May-Guerrero. Canelo-Trout was a good fight, Mal-Broner wasn't bad either though underwhelming but it was a good match-up.

Also as for Rios-Alvarado I'm not ****ting on it in general, it's good for the sport and attracts more casuals but... let's not kid ourselves it isn't a championship style match up. It's not the two best fighting, those are what I like. Marquez-Bradley while won't be matched as much and isn't as entertaining is a MUCH better fight imo...looking forward to it.

The problem right now is that HBO subscriber base is a lot bigger than Showtimes. HBO has a lot more wiggle room while Showtime needs to promote the **** out of each fight to make it do numbers.
Most people subscribe to HBO for game of thrones, newsroom, veep, old favorits like Sopranos and the Wire on HBOgo. There aren't enough hardcore fight fans that will switch from HBO to Showtime to make a difference. Most with HBO will just find a steam for showtime fights and still be able to buy the PPV events like Mayweather/Canelo..

The people complaining about the Golovkin-Macklin undercard are being ridiculous. Undercard fights have always been hit or miss, in this instance the Nelson fight was pretty fun to watch and the Oosthuizen fight wasn't. Both fights were good on paper. What's there to complain about? The main event was good. How is HBO dying or losing or whatever anybody else is saying?

It's not HBO's fault that Oosthuizen didn't throw more punches. People thought it would be a good fight going in, they can't do anything more than make good matchups and hope the fighters deliver.

You can be sure that these are the same clowns who claim to be hardcore fans and appreciate any type of boxing style. Turns out that they also depend on what casual fans want. If it's boring to casual fans, it's also boring to them. Aargh...

boxing to hbo is like what? maybe 2% of their entire programming?

and they're sinking because of that

Right, Judah Garcia was the highlight of their first 4 months, a glorified showcase. I mean, someone was just ****ting on Clottey for having no better win than a "past prime" Judah, in 2008! And unlike young buck Garcia, he wasn't getting hurt at any point, he made Zab quit in record time.

And man, both Rios and Alvarado would finish what Cano started on Paulie.
