They just signed Kovalev and Chavez Jr and Pac have been gone for almost a year now.

GGG has fought on HBO twice already and still has 1 more to go... if he's lucky maybe two. They haven't been really paying him that much.

Undercard wasn't good but I wouldn't count HBO out...sometimes all it takes is one big win and a hype train can begin...

Using that M.O. they got Golovkin and Kovalev two of the most exciting rising starts in the sport and Provodnikov vs Bradley in the possible FOTY. Seems to be working okay.
I don't think he's trying to buy the best fights out there no matter what, he is trying to build up guys in 160-175 so they have opponents for GGG, Ward, Martinez, and a lesser extent JCC jr. He doesn't care about the exciting fights per say, he just wants to build some of these guys up so the fights with the networks stars are bigger.

Good thing for HBO that they have that Mad Magazine looking mother****er, dude is a freakin' animal. GGG is Gold at the moment... he KO's Sergio, Canelo & Chavez Jr. I won't mention Floyd, cuz he'll never consider fighting GGG.
Worse than Showtime has ever ******? You must be young and not remember some of the late 90s/early 2000s dreck on that network.

Yep, I feel like HBO is the global boxing station showing the best fights wherever they take place.

Buenos Aires, London, New York, Macau...if a good fight is taking place HBO are there.

Pacquiao fought in December, it's only July and he's back in Oct/Nov, Chavez back next month. I was referencing the future re. Kovalev and obviously you have Golovkin there too.

I don't think they're sinking. Unexpected solid fights early in the year with Pacquiao, Marquez, Ward, and perhaps another GGG fight in the later half of the year it's safe to say they'll be alright. Plus the ratings don't seem to suggest it. Good for boxing. Now if we could only get Golden Boy and TR to quit being idiots.

HBO did it to themselves. Their female like sensitivity cut off an entire spigot of GBP fighters. Fools.

It's no big loss. All they were getting from GBP was Broner, Thurman, and Hopkins. The only one they care about losing is Broner, but not if it cost them 2.5m in purses for a 14-1 showcase against Paulie.
