He had the potential to be one of those great figures that only boxing throws up. Charismatic, interesting, witty.
And like I said, he has interesting things to say.
But if you watch the guy for a while, you know he's in love with the idea of being this boxing scholar. He's PLAYING at the role, it's blindingly obvious. If wasn't so self-conscious, I'd like the guy. Well, I actually did right after Mosley beat Marg when it was his time to shine. But bit by bit, I kinda realised that he was very much like Atlas, though not as egregious.
Re Mosley - nothing he could do about Shane being shot. But going around telling everyone that you had devised the blueprint after a fight like that. I mean, for ****s sake. And it wasn't like Morales and JMM had caused Pac fits before, right?Comment

I used to think he was damn cool (probably helped that I love Ward).
Even that tender shiet he was doing with Khan during the Diaz fight - I gave him the benefit of the doubt, I figured he had worked with Khan and know that that was what he needed at that moment.
But man, tonight just embarrassing. Right down to the towel flinging response (within the camera's eye line, of course) he did on the results announcement.
At least Jack Loew keeps it real. He's a clown but he tries doing best for his fighter, even if it is counter-productive. None of this self-serving guru nonsense.Comment

All Iknow if it would have been a 12 round fight Wille would have been knock out in the 11th or 12thSome seriously hilarious cornerwork from both
We got the old "double that ****ing jab" favourite from Jack, mixed with the usual violent bursts of anger. "Willie, oh Willie. YOU'RE FIGHTING LIKE A ****ING KID AGAIN!"
At the other end of the scale, Virgil trying to soothe Brandon down in the last round with the whispering was just about the corniest shiet I've seen in a long time. I used to think Virgil was cool but looks like he's cut from the same cloth as ****im, where they like to revel in their own voice and genius.
The only pity tonight was not experiencing Buddy jump in with the "I'm gonna stop the fight, baby" he surely would have done around round 6 if Macklin had somehow managed to hang on.
Virgil Hunter, ****im, Atlas - these guys are corny as ****. They come with big reputations but if you watch them closely, you know that a lot of what they do is self-serving, revelling in their own genius.
Now look at Abel Sanchez with GGG - no frills, on the point, gets out of the way. Look at the chemistry between them too. And he was the one who tweaked GGG's mentality, realising that a kid with that power needed to go for knockouts to become big. Result? GGG is becoming a star.Comment

Has Virgil hunter ever even fought before? These guys are Corny they don't teach the fighters anything the fighter learns on his own in the ring then they take the credit. What does a guy who never fought before have to offer a guy like andre ward or even an open class amateur? Some seriously hilarious cornerwork from both
