Some seriously hilarious cornerwork from both
We got the old "double that ****ing jab" favourite from Jack, mixed with the usual violent bursts of anger. "Willie, oh Willie. YOU'RE FIGHTING LIKE A ****ING KID AGAIN!"
At the other end of the scale, Virgil trying to soothe Brandon down in the last round with the whispering was just about the corniest shiet I've seen in a long time. I used to think Virgil was cool but looks like he's cut from the same cloth as ****im, where they like to revel in their own voice and genius.
The only pity tonight was not experiencing Buddy jump in with the "I'm gonna stop the fight, baby" he surely would have done around round 6 if Macklin had somehow managed to hang on.
Virgil Hunter, ****im, Atlas - these guys are corny as ****. They come with big reputations but if you watch them closely, you know that a lot of what they do is self-serving, revelling in their own genius.
Now look at Abel Sanchez with GGG - no frills, on the point, gets out of the way. Look at the chemistry between them too. And he was the one who tweaked GGG's mentality, realising that a kid with that power needed to go for knockouts to become big. Result? GGG is becoming a star.
