Did Manny Actually Get Better? Or Opponents Perfect for him?

from 2005-now we always hear that pacman was a beast, that he fought chinny come forward fighters like Hatton, cotto cw, Diaz lol

he tried to cherrypick little marquez at welter and it backfired twice....so did he really get better?

Well it's obvious it was up to something the way his power moved up the weights with him, doesn't happen that way
Oscar Hatton and Cotto all made the mistake of trying to walk him down despite his speed advantage

So I think while I think he had some illegal help he would still struggle once a fighter decided to outbox him

Clottey had lost an SD against Cotto who Pac had just KO'd. Marga was like 18 months inactive and over two years removed from his last solid win. Mosley had just fought a draw with Mora and had been beaten by Floyd a not long before. He should have gone after Bradley earlier, fought undefeated Rios at 140....sure the names weren't as big but instead of exhausting himself getting UD's against guys who generally don't get stopped he could have been taking out the young lions in the sport. But he fought the guys with name value but not on form in recent fights.

Not Manny's fault as much as Arum's.

man manny is such a great guy from that video, just wish all sportsman were like him imo

you can imagine how much bigger floyd would be if he was humble as pac imo

pac got a hell of a lot better, the guy hit his peak, what people fail to realise is that they need to compare his footwork say in hatton, cotto and clottey who was a very good ww (beat cotto imo) to his older days, he improved so so much, that led to him getting in far better positions to lands his shots and then get out of the way most of the time

People can say what they want but there was a reason that floyd avoided pac and he did avoid him, even 50 said it, pac at the hatton, cotto and clottey was a monster who would have defeated any ww alive that time. it a shame he became a part time fighter after that, the reason he declined was because boxing became 2nd to him, he did not train as hard anymore and let himself go between camps

From 2005 to his WW run,yes he did get better..He became a bit more defensively responsible..His foot movement became some of the best in the game..He set his punches(and punch with both hands)up much better..It's simple to see he had gotten much better..I will say Pac also had very good match making tho..Cotto Marquez Bradley Morales was not part of that match making tho..Those fighters styles will always give Manny problems, thinking fighters who fight well off the back foot who can push Manny backwards will always give Manny trouble..Although imo Hatton was tailor made for Pac,I give him major credit for beating him in the fashion he did..

I would say Manny got way better as his career went on..He became more solid within his own style..He just never added to it..He never learned how to fight off the back foot..How to really use timing, his style is to overwhelm, nothing more nothing less..

no he did not get better. he's one dimensional, predictable, and has a terrible trainer that can't teach anything new.

Not really. I felt his best showing was the Marquez rematch. What was so great about Cotto at that point?
