Shane was well past his prime. People seem to forget the Mayorga fight where he looked horrendeous

The win over Mosley. Mosley was still quite relevant back then and Cotto toughed it out in a good, close fight.

The only people who think the Margarito rematch means anything are Cotto fanatics. He was fighting a dead man with one eye and wasn't even that convincing.

That was quite a while AFTER he fought Cotto.

When doesn't Mayorga make someone look bad? Mosley always underperformed at 154 anyways.

          judah and mosley.

he was a very good, not great fighter.

antonio margarito ruined him. he was never the same after their fight in '08, when margs was at the height of his powers, and almost certainly cheating under capetillo.

For me I think his best win was probably over Shane Mosley.

Cotto has skills but I always thought he was an over-achiever.

I didn't expect him to beat Mosley and he did by a slim margin in an exciting fight. That actually was the fight that brought him fame.

He continually took tough guys that others wouldn't fight.

He failed in his biggest fights. The only fight he was not competetive was in the Pac fight.

I agree with most of the post except the bold because I agree partially with that. I think that fight was a great, competitive fight through the first 5 rounds.

I think his best wins are:

                1. Mosley
                2. Margarito II
                3. Clottey
                4. Judah
                5a. Malignaggi
                5b. Quintana

I could see others rating them in a different order, but I am fairly sure those are his top wins.

He did not look outstanding. I guess winning almost every round is not outstanding enough?

                    When did his prime finished?

When he fought Collazo or Vargas or when he fought Cotto or when he fought Mayorga.

If he was well past his prime. I am guessing his prime finished with the Vargas fight.

Lol at a shot one eyed margarito being a career defining win. On top of that it was fought at a catchweight. If thats your best win you must not have very good wins
