Canelo is only as big a star as he is because he has a country behind him. If he gets completely out classed by Mayweather, his star power will not grow, but remain where it is. Broner is more likely to keep getting bigger and bigger, of course unless he loses too. I think its very likely Canelo will look bad against Mayweather and Broner's stock will keep rising. Even the haters all add to that star power. They hype him more than his fans do by constantly talking about him.

canelo has a much bigger mexican fanbase but broner can better sell his fights in the us because[size="4"] canelo isn't fluent in english (some would argue broner isn't either).[/size]

Not sure I agree. Even if he looks bad, it's still millions of new people who will have watched him fight. Huge exposure. The next time he fights after that more people will know who he is and he is an exciting fighter.
