No it literally means losing money, like coming well short of break even point. In one night 40%+ of your annual budget, if true. That's catastrophic in any business.

Don't talk to me about precedents. Normally the network doesn't make any guarantees on a PPV, all the risk is on the promoter. So this is a whole new business model lol.

You not gonna get far with your calculation if you don't know that cable and satellite distributors take about a half. Maybe Showtime execs forgot about this when they were drafting the contract?

They didn't lose money they just didn't generate as much as expected. The ghost fight buildup was used by showtime and CBS to recreate floyd's image. The CBS documentary and the showtime documentray were produced. They spent money for the long term not just May.

Do you really think CBS is missing the $12 mil? If so, why are they going full force and investing more this time around?

How are they losing money when they are spending more on this fight. Nobodt thought the Ghost would the number he did vs Cotto. It did the range of numbers most expected rather it be 870k or a lil over a million.

I don't know, but that's the widespread rumor, echoed in Forbes in fact.

I dunno what CBS can do, contractually they may have no recourse but to swallow the massive losses. So they're doubling down, it's no secret Canelo is the only sure fire money maker of the available options. It'll save Espinoza's skin short term, but it's a 6 fight contract and I don't see any other sure fire winners. Some of them would bomb worse than Guerrero, like Alexander for example.

Yes business why they don't want the fight. Hopkins could win and ride off back to Showtime.

Good move by HBO, they have Ward waiting in the wings, Froch etc.

                  Schaefer is a *****.

all depends on the effort made to promote it. if floyd fights devon or khan-he's got to get out there and sell it like he did the ODH fight.

if he fights broner/cotto 2 /canelo 2-then its completely different.

But it all depends on what happens next. No one believed floyd odh would 2.4 mil. Imagine if floyd canelo equals or tops that? I don't think it will.
