It's not sad, it's spectacular. Shiming is the giga star of tomorrow, numbers don't lie.

So that means they'll continue to throw good money after bad on a fringe sport? How long they been owning Showtime anyway? So why is the Shotime #2 this whole time, when less than half of the 12m they may have lost on Guerrero ppv would have made them bigger than HBO Boxing, budget wise?

This is business not some high school bullshit going on, Stevenson is the fight people want to see. And HBO probably has options for Stevenson's next fights. Right now so the only way to make the fight is going through HBO.

They're sinking all this money, what's the payoff?

                    record ppv loss, check
14-1 showcase gone wrong, at 2.5m+ a pop, check
budget can't fit Garcia Matthysse, but we'll get Judah 2, check
no interest in Hopkins Kovalev, but Hopkins Murat is a check

herobando you keep focusing on $12 mil like the year is over. If you lose money in a business on any given day that doesn't mean you lost for the year. you do know that "losing $12 mil" means regarding ppv fights? it means they didn't get as much profit as they expected-the fight, for example, made $25 mil when it was expected to make $37.

bizzle113- showtime is trying to unseat HBO as the boxing network so they are going to do whatever it takes. But HBO had the sopranos and the wire-2 shows which probably got them 10-12 mil subscribers alone. HBO has 9 miil more subscribers ao I expect they will always do better ratings and have higher boxing ratings until that number is reduced.
