Good for Kirkland I guess but who would want to work with a flake like him, not even mentioning all the trouble he gets in.

In one off fights I could see him being used as an opponent but even then you would have to be concerned about him flaking out ruining your event. Plus how far can he get in that situation, he is a knockout or stoppage guy so he does have those two judges in his favor but any fight that gets to the cards he isn't getting the benefit of the doubt so that makes it tough to really build momentum.

Kirkland is a big mystery -- basically didn't take any advantage of his 'signature' win against Angulo -- looked plain awful against Molina and his hid under a rock since then -- has to be more to his inactivity than a managerial / promotional dispute -- it's cost him big $$$ during his supposedly prime period -- can't see how such long layoffs as he's had will do him any good....

This should setup GGG-kirkland in december....

GGG in desperate need of a name opponent, and kirkland fights that bill,, would be a good HBO fight and would be another name on GGG's resume...

Top Rank would be the obvious choice, if he goes with Don King he is screwed, Don isn't even relevant anymore.

Kirkland is only good if you put him in against traditional Mexican warriors. If they put him in with slick boxers it will be boring, might as well make him shine to the best of his abilities he is not going to be a world beater with his chin, but you can make a lot of money putting him on HBO against some Mexican come forward fighters who are slightly washed up, hype him and build him like they did with Mike Tyson.

If he signs with Top Rank, Arum will hook him up with either of his loyal go to guys, Freddie Roach or Robert Garcia who are basically Arums go to trainers lol.

Sadly, you are probably 100% correct.

He already stabbed people in the back that helped him out when he was in dire straits. Neither of those dues can really help Kirkland either, he will be the same flawed guy outside the ring.

Why would Arum want to invest in that~

I think you got a point there, his manager was Cameron Dunkin who works with Arum a lot so Kirkland is pretty much screwed, unless Top Rank is willing to give him a shot.

So he's freed up but now he's going to jail again.

Kirkland stay losing. Even when he wins he loses.

They might use him as an opponent, but I couldn't see them investing any long term money in him unless Kirkland goes on a run and proves to be more reliable.

I guess on the cheap they could justify a 3 fight deal or so with some options, but given what Kirkland was complaining about would he agree to a contract on the cheap.
