It doesn't change the fact that he fought the fight at 154lbs because he felt Cotto wasn't a threat. Same reason why Pacquiao would fight Margarito at 150 but not Sergio Martinez.

Floyd obviously sees Canelo as a threat and thus the catchweight. Floyd and his fans would get more respect if they would just admit that and not dance around the issue. If Canelo was older, slower and past his prime - this fight would be at 154.

floyd has a cw for this fight. he had a rematch clause with ghost. I dont think he needs either, but he and his team obviously are worried floyd could "become 36" at any moment. so they are trying to protect him in case he does. thats just smart business but it makes floyd look cowardly, especially to the thuggery/hugh grant/junior gong/hectari level posters.

floyd's team is using his leverage the way other non hwt "cash cows" did. the only difference is they didn't pop **** about not draining fighters etc etc. so he has to deal with the backlash.

no question canelo and cotto are different fighters.

What I do know is that Canelo came in at 172 in his last fight against trout.

Asking a guy that comes in at 172 to drop down to 152 instead of 154 is a pretty huge ****ing deal.

Fight should be at 154. That said canelo doesn't have to take fight. But he wants the payday so he took it. You coukd always do whst cotto did with manny and turn the cw down.
