But no-one else has an issue in the highest paid star in the sport just outright telling us that he doesn't want to engage?

This is boxing, for ****s sake.

Don't give me that sweet science stuff. Can you imagine Ali, Tyson, Holyfield, Frazier, Leonard, Duran telling us that they refuse to take punishment.

The Cotto fight really spooked Team Mayweather. I was looking forward to the Canelo fight immensely but it's going to be a pot-shot fest.

Say what you want about Broner but at least the kid wants to fight.

If everyone was as defensive minded as Floyd Mayweather, the sport really would be dead.
I think this was as result of the Cotto fight... we know now that his legs were fine so he chose to stay in the pocket to make it exciting for the fans... in the build up to the fight he was talking that same "exciting" talk too

After taking a few hard shots and having his nose bloodied up he's changed his mind... also this sounds a lot like something his dad would say

Boxing is about hitting your opponent whilst not getting hit yourself, yes the sweet science... Floyd illustrates that perfectly, that's the reason he has dominated the sport so long (look at Hopkins, too).

To say a fighter should be willing to just take punishment for the sake of a few idiots sitting in an arm chair drinking beer, people who won't give a **** about him when his career is over or his health for that matter, is ******.

I for one love watching Floyd fight, I enjoy watching his style... hes got unbelievable talent and shows how important it is to use your brain in the ring and not just take 2 to land 2 all the time.

Except most fighters are nothing like Mayweather, which is one of the main reasons as to why he's so exciting. Few can do what he does. Its the unique style of guys like Mayweather, Rigondeaux, Hopkins etc. that makes me as a fan enjoy and appreciate what they do all the more. I for one am glad that there's lots of different styles in the sport. Variety is great.

No need to get that deep, Floyd does engage, not too long ago everyone kept talkin' about how he's losing his legs. He simply doesn't like to take punishment, no need to get any deeper than that as no one likes to get hit, not even Margarito.

So essentially he's saying boxing should be about cherry picking and exploiting weaker opponents so you don't have to take punishment against your equals.

            I can't respect that.

If you don't like challenges in life, or in sports, why are you even participating?

If this is what the sport becomes like it has with Manny and Floyd, will anyone even watch it anymore? I have a sickening feeling they would.

That mother****er don't wanna fight. He wants to potshot his ways to five $32m paydays and ride into the sunset.

Floyd offense is as good as his defense. People just just don't see it or chose not to see it. Some boxers don't mind taking punishment while dishing out their own. Look at Rios and to a lesser extent, Canelo. Floyd doesn't take punishment while dishing out his own. I don't find anything wrong with that.

Mayweather makes something that is very complicated and hard to do, look easy; not getting hit cleanly and at all.

Look at the guy in my profile.. He obviously did not know how to defend against punches..
