Comments Thread For: David Price: Once I Beat Thompson, I'm Back in The Mix

DAVID PRICE believes one day he will be grateful that Tony Thompson beat him.
The Washington DC southpaw famously stopped Price in two rounds in February, but the 6ft 8in scouser goes for revenge at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on Saturday July 6.

Price, 29, said: “There will be heavyweights who saw me get beat and thought ‘Thank God’ because they wouldn’t have to fight me in the next one or two fights.

“A year down the line when I have won two or three fights I will be able to say I’m glad that happened then.

“I can’t say that now because I am yet to avenge the defeat, but I do believe if I’d carried on the way I was going it was a formality I would lose.

“You get complacent and it is a lesson learnt. Once this fight is won I am right back in the mix and no one can deny that. [Click Here To Read More]

I like Price, hes a really down to earth and likable guy he just has a lot of flaws and his chin is terrible. Shame really as hes one of boxings good guys & props too him for taking an immediate rematch but I just get the impression he'll get stopped the second hes hit again.

I agree with you. Price is a genuinely nice guy, but I have always thought he might be a bit too nice and whether he has the fighting heart and instinct to make it to the top. He's shown great power and puts together nice shots but has also shown serious vulnerabilities, most noticeably his ability to take a shot.

Manny Stewart would have done him wonders.

I hope he makes the adjustments and does well, but I don't know if he will.

I can't belive the odds on Thompson, couldn't resist a cheeky bet on him.

Obviously I hope that it was all a fluke and Price can come back, but I seriously doubt that it was, I'm glad he's taken the direct rematch as it'll not leave us wondering.

Even if he beats Thompson, he already was beaten by him.
          And...in what mix?
I dont consider him in the same league as Jennings, Scott, Wilder, Pulev etc

Tony Thompson is way more proven than Jennings, Scott and Wilder so if Price dominates him in such a way as the first loss looks like a fluke then I would consider him in that "league". Obviously i'd still have Pulev above them all though, he's way better.

Why so much love for Price all of a sudden? A couple months ago you were his #1 hater

I've never hated him, I just couldn't stand the hype he was getting when it was obvious what was coming...

If Price was to beat Thompson in the rematch, I would want to see Price vs. Mitchell, with Thompson vs. Banks on the undercard.
