Sorry to tear you away from discussing Broner's grill and dancing but let's talk about something which I think we need to discuss and not just get lost in the post Broner-Malignaggi fall out.
Did we witness a fixed fight last night? Now, I still lean towards it NOT being one - but then I don't have a conspiratorial mind. And I don't believe the upside of bribing Banks is worth it when I know Mitchell will be getting chin checked shortly anyway.
But some troubling questions emerged last night.
Why did Banks stop throwing power shots after round 5?
Why, when clearly down on the scorecards, is Banks content to create a gap between he and Seth that you could drive a bus through in round 12? With 30 seconds to go, why is he jabbing to Mitchell's chest, without looking for a second that he is looking to set something up?
Why would you be wary of a guy who you've already knocked out, hurt again.....and doesn't like has hurt you back?
Why would the trainer of the Heavyweight champion of the world fight such a ******ed, ****** fight?
A fighter may hurt one hand and rely on the other. But why did Banks refuse to punch with either hand?
Seriously, that fight needs to be thoroughly investigated.
