He has plenty of speed to improve his defense but, for that fight at least, he's lucky it wasn't against a big puncher. He got tagged plenty of times. We saw the difference between getting hit with a jab with no power behind it, and getting hit with one with decent power behind it. Huge difference, and that was just with the jab.

As I said earlier, he's got the talent to evolve in to a great fighter. Just lucky he didn't go against a real stiff challenge in his first venture to 147
As being for the first time at 147, Broner correctly figured out that he cannot risk to go for a KO, and opted for a 12 rounder dress-rehearsal...
Broner knew who he was fighting with (as we all did)... The kid did need such a "no problems" fight in order to assess his tools at this point of his career...
(I didn't see Broner really tagged during the fight...)

I honestly think Broner will fight Maidana next and I've been saying it for two weeks. If Broner wins, they'll say it proves he can beat legit WWs with power. I like Maidana but I think Broner is a bad style for him. I can see Broner hurting Marcos with body shots in the 3rd or 4th rd and coasting to victory.

Broner's weakness to me is his inability to deal with a high workrate and his lack of combination punching in the first half of fights. He's also never been in with a guy who can match his strength on the inside or can fight with a broken rhythm. To me, the nightmare styles for Broner are Brandon Rios and Pacquiao. Pac is the ultimate broken rhythm fighter who throws vicious combos that freeze opponents but can change angles mid-combo and hurt people with very short punches. I see Pac overwhelming the flat-footed Broner.

Rios is another guy that would beat Broner up. I see Rios bullying Broner on the inside and landing his awkward overhand rights to Broner's head on the inside. Rios is strong on the inside, has decent power, a great workrate, can fight ugly, and won't be deterred by Broner's power.

I would pick both Bradley and Marquez to beat Broner as well.

Realistic non-Arum fighters I would also pick to beat Broner: Guerrero, Alexander, Thurman.

Ortiz would be a toss-up fight, as would Khan.

I would love to see Broner-Khan though. Khan has the height and speed to find Broner's chin early. If Khan can avoid taking a big punch, I see him winning. If Khan sticks to combination punching, Broner might have a tough time pulling the trigger.

Edit: Thurman and Broner are both with Haymon and will thus never fight. Thurman is a serious beast though.

I think Broner looses every round except 2-3 against a guy like Tim Bradley. IMO Bradley is the most talented fighter at 147 not named Manny or Floyd.

Bradley is extremely good, I agree.
I would not judge Broner according to this fight -- he took no risks.

Basically yes... But in business this is an asset, not a liability...
