It was ridiculous how they kept counting Paulie's power against him when scoring the fight. Everyone knew that going into the fight Paulie's power wouldn't be effective, but he was still LANDING shots. You can't throw all the credit on someone with physical gifts like power or speed of they are still getting out landed and not landing as clean themselves.

They also made an assumption that Bronner's shots hurt Paulie when there was absolutely no proof of this. In fact neither guy was wobbled so in effect neither guy had power that was a factor in this fight.
There is no question that an argument can be made that Paulie coule have gotten the nod. I don't think it is a robbery but I do think either guy could have been awarded the V -
I agree that effective power punches cancel jabs or punches with little power, but that makes sense if a fighter is throwing and landing consistently. If one guy lands 25 jabs while the other one lands 5 good straight rights, as a judge, I think I would give credit to the 25 jabs because that boxer is working in a consistent manner.
I am not saying Malignaggi was landing 25 to 5 but I don't really agree with the punchstats because I did not see Broner land more. I think Malignaggi did not get the credit he deserved for the body shots he landed.Comment

Paulie deserved even a draw since it was his home town. What's the point of doing a fight in his home town without that advantage? He was disrespected as a champ. After the Khan loss everyone thought he was done for and he worked his ass off to earn a belt. Big ups to Paulie he should keep commentating and fighting C level opposition to at least leave the sport a winner. Against these groomed prospects he will never get a nod.Comment

I look at a lot of things when scoring the fight. Paulie showed better defense, stayed busy, had better foot work, and he didn't have those body shots accounted for due to lack of power.I agree that effective power punches cancel jabs or punches with little power, but that makes sense if a fighter is throwing and landing consistently. people need to stop scoring the effectiveness of the punches on which punches look prettier or who is known to hit harder....effectiveness is how it affects the opponent....and Paul was never really hurt, so broner wasnt really that much more effective....this is why most people should not even score fights...they go into fights with pre concieved notions that cloud their judgement.Comment

There's no doubt about it. Malignaggi's output dropped around the 6th round, but he was still there. The first few rounds were all Malignaggi simply because he was the busier fighter and forced Broner to go into a defensive shell.
Malignaggi, officially, has five losses now. This was nothing like the losses to Cotto, Hatton, and Khan. If anything his loss is closer to the Juan Díaz one although that was a robbery and last night's fight was close.Comment

lol I would love to see him take on Danny Garcia at 147, the verbal back and forth with Angel Garcia would be incredible for the build-up. I think he could beat a stationary Danny too. He'll probably retire though.Paulie deserved even a draw since it was his home town. What's the point of doing a fight in his home town without that advantage? He was disrespected as a champ. I do hear you about scoring his power against him, I feel like Paulie would have to land three times the punches of his opponent to get any credit.Comment

Sorry but this is wrong. The question is who would you rather have been in the fight? For me the fight was close and Broner is a garbage hype job but I'd rather have been Broner. Just because punches were not making Malignaggi wobbly it doesn't mean he'd have liked taking them. Anyone who has sparred knows this.people need to stop scoring the effectiveness of the punches on which punches look prettier or who is known to hit harder....effectiveness is how it affects the opponent....and Paul was never really hurt, so broner wasnt really that much more effective....this is why most people should not even score fights...they go into fights with pre concieved notions that cloud their judgement.Comment
