  • Comments Thread For: Tua vs. Ustinov Agreement is Reached For August 31

David Tua is expected to make his comeback against Russian-born giant Alexander Ustinov.

Sunday News understands a deal has just been signed off for the 36-year-old Ustinov - ranked 10th in the WBA and seventh in the IBF - to fight Tua in New Zealand on August 31. An announcement is expected this week.

The 2.2-metre Ustinov, who now resides in Belarus, a country tainted with doping history, holds a credible 28-1 record with 21 knockouts.

Damn, **** must pretty on the downside for Tua to be kept recycled like this. I wish this dude nothing but the best. But he should be benefiting off the fruit of his labor at this point in his life...

If those pictures i saw of tua are legit there is no doubt he's in shape but can he chop down ustinov at 40 years old? Ustinov is very slow so if tua goes to the body when inside he might get ustinov to drops his hands... Timber!!! Ustinov is just big. He's easy to hit but can tua let his hands go often enough to exploit it? This could be a really ugly hugathon or maybe we will get a big knock out... This is a very odd matchup especially since tua hasn't fought in a couple years...

Ustinov is slow but very strong...

I think Tua is going to be knocked out for the first time.

Tua was at his best when he jumped on opponents from the opening bell and buried them in power shots before they could warm up.

Which Tua will enter the ring?

The old fiery, war-hungry Tua.... or the calm and collected Tua who lets rounds roll by while he's waiting for opponents to make a mistake?

Yeah if you look at tua in his last fights i would predict the same outcome..
But maybe tua has found some motivation and looks in good form.
If he gets intimidated by ustinov he will get knocked out!

Tua is one of my all time favourite HWs but I wonder if this is a good idea.. hope he really comes in shape and goes for an early KO, there´s no way he can box Ustinov from the outside and win. All out, win or lose!

Hopefully Tua's legs are strong, and he'll rush in and start dealing damage early.

He needs to show no fear. Ustinov is one big bastard.
