Froch: "Cleverly is totally insignificant"

I agree. But why should Froch be expected to move up? Froch isn't big he only rehydrates to around 175 at most. Even if Cleverley is the tougher assignment, there are still better opponents for Froch that would also be a lot more lucrative financially. Froch is coming to his twilight years and unfortunately hasn't been noticed for most of his career so he needs to cash out for the future imo.Comment

I see nothing to argue with there.
Cleverly is indeed irrelevant to the likes of Froch, he doesn't do anything at all for Froch's legacy. I really don't know why Cleverly is so focused on someone in a different division who thinks nothing of him in return.Comment

He isn't expected to move up, Cleverly offered to fight him at 168. As to financials £2.5m is no small offer, but afaik Matchroom rejected it in 20 minutes, I doubt they even consulted Froch in that time.I agree. But why should Froch be expected to move up? I have no great desire to see Froch-Cleverly but I'd prefer it to Groves and some of the other fights mentioned.Last edited by Weebler I; 06-21-2013, 08:23 AM.Comment

A Cleverley fight isn't top of my wishlist for Froch's next opponent, but i'm not sure why Froch is so against it, and it's not completely insignificant.
He's an option that provides a beatable man at 168 or 175 for Froch, who holds a title, and domestically is the biggest fight for Carl's legacy (titles in 2 divisions) in comparision to what Groves (being touted) or Degale would bring.
There's no doubt that Warren is a big hinderence for a Froch/Cleverley bout to ever come off.Comment
