  • Comments Thread For: Froch: Ward Brings Little Revenue, Kessler III is Priority

IBF/WBA "regular" super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22KOs) is more interested in a trilogy match with Danish rival Mikkel Kessler than avenging his 2011 decision loss to Andre Ward. Froch got revenge over Kessler with a twelve round decision on May 25th. Kessler had previously beaten Froch, also with a twelve round decision, in 2010. Because of the international revenue, and the interest of the TV networks, and likely having to avoid the possibility of traveling to the United States to face Ward on his home court - Froch would prefer the trilogy fight with Kessler.

Still can't get over the disrespect ward gets. I could see if it was somebody ward never faced saying this *****. But dude Froch, ward dominated ure a$$ in the super six final. If floyd and rigondeux get there props so should ward. If I'm ward I say forget it and go chase hopkins,Stevenson,Chavez jr or even 3G the options are out there.

I'm a huge fan of Froch but he can piss off then. This is just an excuse for him because Ward dominated him the first time around. I have zero interest of seeing Froch dominate Kessler again and as a fan of Frochs it bothers the piss out of me that he is putting this fight, a fight he destroyed Kessler in as a priority, over a challenging fight that will further enhance his career. Fight Ward or I'm not going to bother with Froch any longer tbh.

It's almost like Froch is using Wards style as an excuse why not to fight him. If you don't want to fight him fine but at least admit to that Ward is just a style that you don't mesh well with(and would lose to again in a landslide) and move on. Don't use some weak ass excuse like money as your reason since you would be paid very well for the rematch with Ward.

How on earth is he going to live without your support, though?

He'd be paid more for a Kessler RM in Denmark, and he is at the end of his career. So why not make it about money, at this stage? We fans being happy or unhappy with him will mean nothing to him and his lady and kids in 5 years. He'll have his comfy life. What other goal is there for the post-boxing career? What, he has to make us happy and make less money doing it? If I were him I wouldn't do that. Besides, all Kessler would've had to do was to have been more active in their 2nd fight, because he certainly was more accurate. Kessler will be better for the rubber match. I see it as being more competitive for the 3rd fight.

                Lol

I agree with froch! Make ward travel! I hate home tendered fighters! I mean everyone in the super six traveled way more, I mean ward 11 of his last 14 fights have been in CA, which gives you too much home cooking in my point of view.. I still don't froch beats him, but some less biased judges may give him a false sense of feeling he's got a better shot! Besides wards boring style doesn't help! Unless he can become an overnight villain like money!

Froch has fought his last 3 in his own back yard and has fought more fights in his back yard than ward - ward has fought 5 back yard fights - do the research before showing your bias and supporting a arrogant self promoting guy like froch - everyone who saw the kesseler fight said before / during / and after that he was looking to cash out - he still did good against the robot (a very tuff and determined one at that) give him his excuses because he gets ko'd if there is a rematch with ward - trust me, ward is just too skilled and a lot better than that night!
