Comments Thread For: Sergio Martinez Eyes Ring Return in March, April 2014

WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28KOs) expects to return to the ring in "March or April 2014." Martinez, 38-years-old, last fought on April 27th in Argentina, when he retained his title with a twelve round unanimous decision over unbeaten British contender Martin Murray. During the match Martinez suffered several injuries and needs the necessary time to fully recover.

Martinez told Tiempo Sports that he might retire after two more fights, because of a promise that he made to his mother. In terms of future opponents, Martinez doesn't rule out anything but he named former three division champion "Miguel Cotto" (37-4, 30KOs) as one possible option. [Click Here To Read More]

I think Martinez still has a lot to give I also feel he still hasn't had a defining fight yet, Yes he beat Chavez, And Williams they stand out but Williams was a k/o waiting to happen.

He should fight ward thats a defining fight.

That's what happens when getting medical treatment in Argentina -- you get one year and a half out... because Martinez was still injured during the Murray fight...
What a pity this great fighter will never receive the proper payday he deserves...

First of all, Argentina has some of the best doctors in the world. And second, Martinez has been making millions of dollars for at least a couple of years now!

Mayweather will beat Canelo in September, he has taken this fight at the right time.

A Middleweight belt fight for Mayweather might look very attractive by 2014 given that Martinez is starting to look very beatable.
