You're that quick to chuck **** that you're all overlooking the fact that Muay Thai is not MMA.

Muay Thai is Muay Thai like Boxing is Boxing. People judge MT on technique also.

MMA has use of both along with anything else such as wrestling, Judo, BJJ, Karate or WTF you want.

It's more commonly known as Thai Boxing in the West. It isn't a Mixed Martial Art in any sense. You strike with fists, knees, elbows and legs (predominantly your shins). You only ever really hold to pull your opponent onto a strike to create more force. There is no grappling as such. No submission holds and you don't go to the ground. It was partly designed to take soldiers off horseback on the battle field. Going to the ground would be suicide.

I dont know what these kick box g@y boys are so proud of??? All they do run around kicking boxers in the shins from a distance refusing to engage at all. They did the same thing to Vince Philips when he tried it. Weaksauce

This argument gets so old. People need to understand something....what defines hard? It is all relative. To be an elite boxer you need to have deep technical knowledge about boxing, all aspects. To be an elite mma fighter, you just need to be decent at a bunch of things or just be a good wrestler. In mma you can tackle someone, lay all over them, etc. to either get a break or try to win. You always have gravity there to help you. In boxing you have no way out, no tackling, no smothering, no headlocks, no laying down. You have to stand there and fight it out.

The difference between MMA and boxing is this which puts in in perspective. You had a guy (Lesnar) who never trained in martial arts in his life, never had an MMA fight in his life...and he walked into the UFC and won the heavyweight championship in his 2nd fight. Does anyone, anyone believe that some guy who has never boxed in his life could walk into the ring and win a championship at any level in boxing? It would never ever happen. I make this analogy, an elite mma fighter is like a handyman, he can fix washers, dryers, fridges, dishwashers, disposals, etc...handy at each different one. A boxer is like a cardiac surgeon, or a sculptor, he is probably not good at anything else but he is a master at his art form.

I like to say a Boxer is a 100 M Sprinter. A Fine tuned machine that requires pure all out ability in one field. If you haven't got it, then you haven't got it. A 0.1 of a second is a Gold to a 6th place at times.

A MMA guy could be said to be a Pentathlete (Or whatever it is). Not quite as good as World class at anything usually, but good at loads of things. You may be weak at say high jumping, but you are strong at running and swimming. Those 2 strong points got you your Gold.
