I see DG knocking Matthyse out. Matthyse fights sloppy and he doesn't utilize a solid jab. A lot of KO's come from counters. The problem with that is Danny Garcia is very patient and has faster hands, imo. Matthyse will be lucky to see the final round.

Danny would be lucky to win at all, let alone KO Matthysse. I don’t see how he could pull that off. A Bernard Hopkins said, to defeat Matthysse you have to avoid him for 6 rounds, then box the perfect fight for the rest of the fight. VERY hard to do.

Matthysse isn’t just a hard puncher, and its not as if punching hard and having terrific KO power is a minor advantage in boxing. Mathhysse has 1 punch KO in both hands. There hasn’t been many boxers that can KO a top ranking boxer like Peterson with a glancing punch to the top of the head. Every commentator noticed that, its very uncommon. Garcia on the other hand has a nice left hook. Yes, it can KO. But its not the kind of arsenal Lucas has.

Danny is a tough kid, but he’s no Matthysse. Matthysse has been to wars like the Ajose Olusegun fight, hard puncher with an iron chin. On the other hand, Garcia has been protected from early on in his carrer, fed safer boxers, the toughest guy being probably Khan.

These days, Danny isn’t looking impressive really, while Matthysse is at his prime, with a scary confidence to go along the scary power.
For all these reasons you see Matthysse as favorite in all polls big a significant margin.

Garcia does have better skills then Lucas but he gets hit alot more then he should be getting hit.not saying Lucas has better defense but you can't be taking as many punches like Garcia does and not get ktfo by Lucas punches. Lucas barely touches you and you go down or can never recover. I have not seen that type of power in Garcia except in the morales and one bum fight but that's against a shot fighter not a prime fighter. Ethier way all you need is to be is tough and have 1 punch ko power which Lucas has. Skills don't mean crap if your opponent has the equalizer.

Other than countering khan with a bomb to the neck, when has Garcia been impressive? And even that, was lucky! Not lucky that it landed, but where it landed.

While Lucas impresses us all the time, Garcia not so much.

I actually think the DG fans are right (sortof). I think only time will tell if the fight happens. Until then, everything is just speculation. GBP doesn't seem as optimistic as before. Fight will need time to be promoted. Sept/Oct date doesn't matter as long as the fight is made. Hopefully there is a great undercard as well. The fight makes most sense on the east coast, but who knows. Maybe Schaffer is thinking of a card at Home Depot with local mexican or popular mexican fighters on the undercard.
