In terms of back to back fights it is surely one of the best out there - which incidentally is what I think the threadstarter was alluding to.

I don't really go in for one or two names taking precedence over a multitude of good opponents. I often see this argument about Rigondeaux and I agree with those who say that one win doesn't mean your record is stellar.

Imo the best record is the one who has beaten the most good fighters. That doesn't mean Froch is a better fighter than Ward, just that he arguably has the better resume.

I watched the fight not long ago, it was very close particularly with the knock-down.
Okay you don't think he has the best resume in boxing, so why argue with my posts that are to argue that he doesn't have the best resume in boxing? You are arguing a different point to me entirely. But still yes resumes are based on a multitude of things including consistency but you yourself said their resumes were very similar. So they are similar in consistency AND Ward has the better defining fights on it too. So whichever way you slice it Ward's resume comes off better. Anyway as I say even if you don't agree with any of that it doesn't matter as I am simply highlighting that he cannot have the best resume in boxing when the guy ranked above him in his division has a better one (if not a similar one) without even taking other weight divisions into account.

Carl Froch may not have the prettiest style but no one can doubt his heart or toughness.

Out of everyone active today, he's the only one targeting legit opponents and fighting them. Can't say that for everyone. Not floyd, pacquiao, sergio, ward. No one but Froch.

He goes from Super 6 straight to Bute. Then rematches Kessler and still wants the best. He deserves respect. Regardless of style, dude has that old school mentality.

Because I disagreed with some of the points you were making in post #22.

I can agree Froch doesn't have the best record in boxing, but do you agree he has had one of the hardest back to back runs in the sport?

Yeah of course, I think his resume is good and he has been at a top level without really taking a duff fight in a while and we can both agree on that. We can also both agree he does not have the best resume in boxing and we can agree to disagree that Ward has the better resume.

Froch is a poor man's Calzaghe with lesser skills and heart.

Joe knew RJJ still had a lot left in the tank and took the fight to him. The same with the legendary Hopkins who is still proving he's a world class fighter by winning several tough fights after his beatdown by Joe.
