  • Comments Thread For: Kovalev To Hopkins: Come Fight Me! Are You Ready?

Sergey Kovalev continues his violent rise up the light heavyweight ranks, the most recent conquest coming Friday evening in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. His 3rd round knockout of Cornelius White wasn’t the headlining bout of the show, but was most certainly the one result that left everyone talking, as has become the case whenever he fights these days.

The online buzz following his NBC Sports Network-televised three-knockdown performance of White (21-2, 16KO) was similar to the reaction that came with his 2nd round knockout of former light heavyweight champ Gabriel Campillo this past January. The timing of this performance couldn’t have been better, coming on the heels of Adonis Stevenson’s lineal championship-lynching one-punch 1st round knockout of Chad Dawson last weekend in Canada. If B hop fights him, it will prove he is not a cherry picker who carefully picks the right opponents. B hop likes to exaggerate his legacy, he has picked mainly greenbacks with no experience who lack heart. He is a student of the game, if he picks this savage I will be shocked but I will also respect him more.

Also Sergey Kovalev is trained by John David Jackson who used to co train B hop, so Hopkins is not going to go anywhere near this kid since he will have an advantage of having someone who knows B hops secrets and techniques.

Look at this kids footwork he gets in an out, and has a killer instinct that other B hop opponents haven't had, he mixes up his power combos throws punches in different angles reminds me of Manny Pacquiao a bit, body and head or he takes whatever you will give him from biceps, shoulders, forearms he just keeps attacking and bounces right out, he is hard to time very light on his feet. If B hop beats this guy he should retire on top this would be the most amazing feat, beating a drunk slow plodding Kelly Pavlik is nothing, since his style was tailor made for B hop, but beating a fast guy with high punch output like Sergey will make his critics eat their words.

Kovalev and GGG those are my current favorits. They both seem to have that something special about how they fight. Both very acomplished as amateurs, both very well schooled and both have very solid power. Best of all (for us as tv viewers) is they extremely aggressive e forward style.
In fact Kovi is even more relentless than GGG. Gena will feel his good boy for a round or so and than brake him down. Serega just blusts through them as if he doesn't care what his opponent has to offer. Goes for a kill from opening bell.

You're crazy. A guy can't get hype? It's one thing to hype a guy who's fought 25 straight bums and KO'd them all (wilder) but Kovalev has only had 21 fights, and has stepped up in each of his last few fights, Campillo was a legit top 10 LHW and White is maybe a top 25 LHW or so.... He did what he was supposed to do, he wrecked them, its not okay for him to get some hype? It's cool B-hop is your boy, but get real and stop posting ****** ****. this post is so ignorant, i can't believe you have as many posts as you do......

If up and coming fighters who look like they have the goods don't get deserved hype, GGG wouldn't be on HBO right now, Lucas wouldn't be in line for a shot at Danny Garcia, etc....

Check his resume? LOL, right becasue 20 fights into a mans career he's going to have taken down every single top fighter in the division, right? Again, get real and stop posting nonsense. YOU check his resume and see that in his last two fights he fought decent fighters and not plain old bums or journey man, and absolutely destroyed them both in 3 rounds.

And as for him not being qualified for the job of beating B-hop, its funny you say that....because technically he is, he is Hopkins mandatory challenger now so I'm not sure what you're on about with that. What REALLY would be funny is if Hopkins doesn't fight him, considering he was willing, ready and signed to fight against Bum ass Murat....... he wanted to keep and defend his title, so there should be no excuses for him not to fight Kovalev, right?

Don't worry, if Hopkins beats Kovalev, I will personally call him GOAT, becasue Kovalev is by far the most dangerous opponent out there for him, period.

I'm a big lifelong Hopkins fan, but I'm a bigger fan of the sport in general.... Hops nuts are so deep down your throat that you post some silliness like this makes it quite the comedic act.

Cheers. (for the record, yes I'm mad)
