Comments Thread For: BoxNation Picks Up Mikey Garcia vs. Juanma Clash

Britain’s hardcore boxing fans need to set their alarm clocks this weekend as BoxNation (Sky Channel 437 and ****** Channel 546) have picked up Mikey Garcia’s WBO featherweight title defence against Juan Manuel Lopez, the former title-holder. The fight takes place at the American Airlines Centre, Dallas on Saturday night, so will be shown in the early hours of Sunday morning here in the U.K.

Puero Rico’s Lopez, 33-2 (30) is gunning for redemption after his two losses to Orlando Salido (TKO in rounds eight and 10 respectively). These defeats halted his charge through the division and presented Garcia with the chance to wrest the title away from Salido, which he did courtesy of an eighth-round Technical Decision win in January. The only issue i have with BoxNation is the cheap production and awful "International commentary".

It is not even about the money and it says a lot that i'd rather stream an American version on my laptop than watch BoxNation on my TV.

If you are reading BoxNation, we want AMERICAN commentary as in HBO/SHOWTIME and HD.

I would happily pay £20 a month for that.

I don't mind the cheap production as Bunce always makes it entertaining, but i do agree the original commentary would be so much better. I'm just glad they are providing pretty much all of the significant fights at the moment. Being a new channel it can only get better with time.

Bunce is fantastic, but I agree that their commentators are awful ... if they're getting a fight from HBO etc just use the HBO etc commentators.

I agree, Barry Jones in particular is terrible, so monotonous, never says anything insightful, just spews bland platitudes. Rawling can be all right sometimes. Someone like Duke Mackenzie, despite often messing up names, is actually insightful and i wouldnt mind if they put him on.

I thought England picked up all of our fights in America?? Is that not true?? HBO must be hurting for money so they're selling rights.

They tend to have American commentary for the American fights.

They have Bob Sheridan often, they had the actual Showtime broadcast recently, they had Merchant and Foreman recently, they had Hopkins recently.

The commentary is pretty good for the U.S fights most of the time.

It's the UK fights that are awful. And for some reason they had Rawling and Barry Jones covering the last Mayweather fight.

                  No not at all.

We get most fights now with Boxnation but before that we got barely any for quite a long time.

We got much more years ago.

                    ???.

That's why i said international commentary which is different.

They had Bob Sheridan and Tim Bradley on commentary recently, it was painful.
