Comments Thread For: Hopkins, Murat, Schaefer Comment on Fight Cancellation

BROOKLYN- Due to number two rated IBF Light Heavyweight Contender Karo Murat being declared ineligible to receive a visa by the United States Department of State, and his subsequent inability to enter the United States, his scheduled July 13 fight against IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion Bernard Hopkins at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York slated to air on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING has been cancelled along with the entire event

"This is an extremely disappointing development as we were anticipating Bernard making history once again on July 13 at Barclays Center," said Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer. "Since the administrative process that would have to be undertaken in order for Murat's visa petition to be reconsidered takes longer than six months, we're exploring several options with respect to Bernard's next fight."

      Hopkins is a boring fighter

I believe Hopkins should of become a wrestler not a boxer. He bores me to death. I watched him since the ESPN days, still fights the same he jabs a bit then grabs you all night. Boring, Boring, Boring.

The guy clearly has no idea what he's talking about.

You must be a new fan. Go back and watch a younger Bhop work. The near 50 year old version fights much different.

at this point, Hopkins is basically a curiosity item -- he'll never fight anyone who he thinks has any chance to beat him -- for years, he has stunk up every arena he has fought in, win or lose -- admire him for even being able to get in there at his ridiculously advanced age but he's really not relevant anymore....

Hopkins tweeted he's fighting in September. I'm thinking he fights the 28th and they push Cotto back.
