For everyone trying to defend Angulo because of the thumb:

Alfredo Angulo - Took repeated left hands to the head, got 'thumbed'/scrapped and walked away.

    Compared to

Jean Pascal: Took a BHop elite thumb missile directly to the eye in their 2nd fight and kept fighting.

I dunno, draw your own conclusions.

good for lara, sticking up for himself. it's amazing how some promoters can sign fighters and then try and push them towards the back of their roster instead of trying to push them in the spotlight and build their fanbase up. that's also real shady of them to order that 10 lb rehydration limit on lara but not angulo. they really set everything up hoping angulo won.
tough loss for angulo, i wish him well in his comeback, but lara should look forward to other names. cotto after he beats k9 would be a great fight. he can also look at guys like trout, kirkland, and the andrade/baysangurov winner. imo that would be an interesting fight (lara/andrade). the wbo belt and interim wba belt would be on the line in that one (if andrade beats baysangurov).

Sorry, Rome, but he sounds like he is gun-shy now; timid. Angulo got TKO'd, fair and square - no argument there. But he dropped Lara not once, but twice, for the first time in his career, and Lara doesn't sound too anxious to get back in the ring with him anytime soon. And he knows fight fans want to see it. So what's the hold-up?

How can you make comments like that about someone you're supposed to be promoting?

As far as Angulo goes, I agree with Landy. Alfredo chose not to continue in a fight where it turned out he hadn't suffered any injuries. He wasn't thumbed, either. Then he goes and makes unnecessary comments after the fact. Is Lara supposed to honor that, especially when there's no benefit to fighting Angulo again? Peace....
Exactly... Great post. It was disappointing reading the comments Angulo made afterward. It was quite JuanMa-ish. Lara put in great work and he basically tried to say Lara cheated. Before Angulo's post-fight comments, rematch warranted... after -- no rematch at all. Besides, why try to fight a guy you consider a dirty fighter who intentionally thumbed your eye?

I would rather see Lara vs Cotto Trout or Kirkland before seeing a rematch..Just because he gave Lara some trouble does not take the fact that Lara tko'd him off the table bro..Lara earned the right to move forward in his career..Should he be punish or frowned upon for winning his fight and tko'ing his opponent??Does that sound right to you??If Lara wanted to fight Angulo again fine..Angulo not only did not take his defeat in a respectable manner he insulted Lara by saying Lara did some under handed move to get him out of there..I completely understand why Lara does not want to have a rematch and respect his decision to move forward with his career..I don't see how anyone could fault Lara at all here..

If Lara won by a boring UD, good for him. Let's see what happens after that.
Shaefer's worried about Canelo needing a comeback opponent after he loses to Mayweather. Had Angulo beat Lara GBP would have sold us a Canelo vs Angulo and said Canelo only wanted to comeback against a credible opponent. Let's see how they try and repackage Angulo a fighter that lost to "KERMIT CINTRON" and is now a certified "QUITTER"

Okay, so let's just sweep everything Lara did in the fight under the rug, stellar logic.

GBP wouldn't let Canelo fight Angulo, or any true '54-pounder, ever. Point blank.
