I remember having a conversation with my friend a while back who knows a lot of people in the Miami boxing scene and telling me that the reason why gamboa has his dad training him is because he doesn't want to pay for a real trainer. He actally knows Salas personally and knows that the reason why Gamboa fired Salas was over money (he didn't want to pay him).

Well on witter for the last few days gamboa has been promoting and selling all his used gear and sends out a few tweets a day encouraging fans to buy it.

Damn he turned down that 1.2 mil to get to this low point?

His idol Mayweather basically abandoned him. Fact that he broke away from Arum to be with his idol. He pissed Arum by not showing up in the Rios press con. Of course, his idol was very happy. Nothing came out of it. 50 cent saved him from misery.

Fucking shame if this is true. I don't doubt it, either. If Yuri's hurtin' now, what's in store for him after his boxing days are over? Retirement isn't that far off. SMH

Gamboa doesn't have many big-money possibilities in his future, even if his career gets back on track. He's 31 and fighting in the lower weights. He's fighting in a division where he probably doesn't belong, all in search of bigger paydays. Yuri better start putting away some earnings for life after boxing.
