Seems like people are still uninformed. Showtimes destroys hbo in sports, period.

Even though Showtime had the better card this just prove that HBO don't need GBP.

the number of viewers really has more to do with hbo having much more subscribers than showtime...there's no question which card is better.

Im not sure about that. A cousin of mine only has HBO and he watched the fight but was pissed when he heard how good Showtimes fights were and is looking into getting Showtime instead cause of upcoming schedules and now that Game of Thrones is done

Yeah I have both too and watched both. It's strange though because the Dawson-Stevenson fight was really short, it was not even a fight, so those watching that fight could have easily switched the channel to Showtime and watch much better fights in Lara-Angulo and Maidana-Lopez...MUCH better fights. But it appears that people just didn't know about it.

I mean, Dawson, Stevenson, Gamboa, Perez vs Maidana, Lopez, Lara, and Angulo? It's a no brainer which fights would be better even on paper. Showtime just doesn't have too many subscribed boxing fans I guess, which is sad because they really whooped HBO last Saturday in terms of quality fights.

HBO's cards will outdo showtimes cards for quite some time, until there is a shift in subscribers, which probably won't happen for a long time, with HBO series like game of thrones, newsroom etc. All of showtimes original programming is played out, weeds and dexter, etc... I think half the people that watch boxing on HBO aren't actively following boxing so much as they "enjoy it when its on."

Most people I know that have showtime, have it exclusively for boxing. (then again, most people I know are boxing fans . . . So my data clearly has a bias
