Comments Thread For: Angulo Recovering, To See a Specialist on Monday

BoxingScene.com spoke with Michael Miller, manager and legal counsel, to junior middleweight contender Alfredo Angulo, who advised us that his boxer will see an ophthalmologist on Monday to determine the full extent of the eye injury suffered during the tenth round Saturday's TKO loss to Erislandy Lara at the Home Depot Centre in Carson, California.

At the time of the stoppage, Angulo (22-3, 18 KOs) was closing the gap on the scorecards. He was ahead 86-83 on one, and down 85-84 by the other two judges. He dropped Lara twice, in the fourth and in the ninth, but the fight came to an unexpected end in the tenth when Lara threw a series of punches and one of them broke Angulo's orbital bone near his left eye.

I agree that it was a clean punch. Although I was rooting for Mr. Dog; Lara was landing that punch all night. I was never a fan of Lara, but yesterday I became a fan. Dude has balls. I though he was done when he got knocked down the second time. I hope Mr. Dog comes back stronger. I feel for the man.

As for Mr. Ginger, I doubt he's ducking Lara. That's like saying; "LARA DON'T WANT A REMATCH WITH MOLINA." Total horsecrap. Ginger vs. Lara would be an excellent fight.

Michael Miller is class act. I like the way he handled this situation. Hopefully Angulo can come back from this.

Gotta say, I'm impressed. Miller sounds like a stand-up guy. No bullshit in his remarks at all. Hard to find people like that nowadays.

Hope he gets better. I still don't understand people can claim a damn thumb can break an orbital bone. Lara must have bones like Wolverine if the thumb did that...

Maybe this whole thing might give Donaire an idea for another excuse. Maybe he will claim Rigo thumbed him.
