Its a 6 fight deal. So this loss, if its true, will be recovered in time. Floyd choosing to fight Canelo actually by Showtime some time to showcase their talent at WW. And if Canelo vs Floyd is competive thats even better. Who knows we could all be talking rematch afterwards. Nobody like to loose 12 mil but one goal was acheived. Floyd was able to raise Showtime boxings profile. And Showtimes building on that by putting on some great cards.

They have about 1.5 to 2 years to recoup on lost revenue and there is no guarantee that he even fulfills the 6 fight contract maximum. He could quit now if he wanted to based on my limited knowledge of his contract with Showtime. Sony has a lot o R&D money tied up in developing the PS3 and they also have an established baseline for a solid profit model based on the previous generation of PS2 and original PS1 gaming system.
Showtime is flat out taking a gamble on Floyd. Completely different market with its own specific set of governing factors. There is little TIME available with respect to the Mayweather-Showtime contract where as Sony has substantiated their entire business model on the idea of prolonged sales over an extended period of TIME.

Showtime can make a profit if May fights Canelo the next 5 times. Manny and JMM did it.
Honestly, I hope Canelo-Mayweather doesn't do that well, so Mayweather will have to do everything in his power to still do the Pacquiao fight (especially if Pac KOs Rios).

Mayweather’s guarantee for the Guerrero fight was $32 million, tied for the biggest ever in boxing, but his additional haul from his cut of PPV revenue is expected to be minimal. The large Mayweather guarantee and significant promotional budget resulted in a loss of as much as $12 million for Showtime for the fight, according to one source. A Showtime spokesperson described the purported losses as “pure fiction” and characterized the unnamed industry source as “badly misinformed.”

For those asking for a workable link. Still no real solid info really.
