Not at all. You have to realize that with swelling like that, it means that there's a huge amount of liquid (blood and other stuff) putting pressure on his skull. He must've had a monster headache, which would've felt like a sledgehammer with every jab landed on his head.

Bruising is one thing - but If I recall correctly; fluid build up like that can kill you.

The guy looked like he half half his skull cracked. Did you expect him to carry on? He would have taken way more punches and the chances are his career would have been ended. Sure as a fight fan it would have been great to see the 12 rounds as I felt Lara was puffing and it was only time before Angulo clipped him again. But the guy's health is first priority. He walked through so helacious shots and didn't flinch so for him to turn his back it must have been something pretty serious.

It's not a question of how much pain he was in, it's a question of how much more damage could have been done to his skull and I imagine it was that risk that made him stop rather than pain.

And he might have been ahead in the cards too... at least pull a donaire and cover your eye with your glove for the rest of the round

Margarito was a cheating scumbag. Who would want to be the heir to that throne? As long as Angulo doesn't fight with plaster wraps I will always consider him better than Margarito.

Not really. You don't **** around with eye injuries in the sport of boxing, and that looked bad. His corner probably would have stopped it after that round anyway with how swollen his eye was.

No fighter should turn their back and walk away like that. That's extremely dangerous, and thankfully the ref stepped in and stopped it before Lara could pounce.

And as far as Angulo quitting in general, I'm not so much disappointed as surprised.

Smart move, I was going for Angulo. I hope he does bounce back but remember it's these guys livelihood if he continued who knows maybe his career is over and even now we don't know the severity of the injury.

No not really, probably would have been stopped at the end of the round anyway. I thought both guys fought a great fight and a rematch is definitely merited. I'd love to see it again.
